Dwyane Wade Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think the title of this thread should be changed to "Dwyane Wade Pissing Contest." This should not be a safari. I think Amazon's safari privileges should be revoked.

Can we please set up a listing of members who can actually start a Safari thread? We don't need a Safari for any/all players that come available.

We already have a #3

I am not quite sure what they are negotiating. Wade a player option this year that he'd be stupid to turn down. He's not going to opt out and get more money elsewhere.

If relationships are strained and he bolts next year when everyone has a bazillion dollars in cap space, and the loser of the KD sweepstakes throw too much money at a big name like Wade, I could see it.

But he's going to turn down 16mil this season? Nope.

A lot of writers are saying that he just wants more years, not necessarily more money per year. I think I saw $45 mil over 3 years tossed out. I think he's just trying to make sure he doesn't get done dirty by Riley when they try to chase someone big next year or just decide that they don't have enough money for him after signing Whiteside, Dragic, and Bosh in consecutive offseasons and then turn around and pull the company line of "sacrifice."

I wouldn't at all be surprised if LeBron is the one that put it in his head that he should get more money and stick it to Arison.

I think by thoroughly rejecting this embarrassment of a safari, the basketball gods will let it slide. Good karma for future safaris.

If Wade leaves (to go elsewhere), at least we will finally get to witness the pure genius of Coach Spo in all its glory.

Oh in a heartbeat.... I don't care what anyone says, if we had Wade right now on this team the Warriors wouldn't have a chance...

Rather have good talented older veteran players than Mike Miller and Shawn Marion

He would if it guarantees that 16m for the next 3 years, which sounds like what he wants. In the current scenario he would take that 16m next year, but the Heat most likely won't offer anything close to that the year after because they need to pay Bosh, Dragic, and Whiteside.

Agree that this shouldn't be a safari. Should have been added to the Pat Riley Salt Truck thread because it's always fun to laugh at Miami.

Also, Wade never developed a 3 point shot, so he doesn't fit in with this Cavs team. The Cavs have their core, from here on out they need to keep acquiring guys that are 3 and D or have length and can offer rim protection.

I just hope he leaves, I don't care if he goes to the Bulls.

Riley is getting old, and losing his shit.

This would be great news for the North Olmsted Towne Center Men's Warehouse

Can anyone give me a proper range of guesses of what the salary cap will likely be in 2015 & 2016 & 2017? I feel like I finally understood how valuable cap space was and some of the tricks to spend beyond it, but now that is going to change drastically.

So why wouldn't Wade take $16M now and then when the cap goes up after next year, he can test FA or re-sign at a big $ amount that will not be as big of a cap % hit?

Also, if he takes player option this year, can they go over the cap to re-sign him next year?
OR
If he waits to sign it this year, could they sign a big FA, then he inks it for this year?
---------------

So I was going to dog Wade then I checked his PER and thought about that team. They will be a nice team when healthy and he was carrying too much burden without Bosh to space the floor and so many games pre-Dragic. Plus, we went 19-20 with our new Big 3, and not that they have a big 3, but they could all use some court time together.

I like smart b-ball players, so I would take him on this team in a heartbeat. I think the Heat would be recognizing the rebuild if they traded him though, so I don't think it happens. I would guess that its posturing for the following year and he takes this 1 year deal on a "Riley - prove it" vibe, and if the Heat end up with a Conference Finals appearance, then Wade stays, but if not, he doesn't look like a jerk for looking elsewhere. Good chess move, IMO.

Yeah because the Miami Heat accomplished nothing due to Wade not having a 3 point shot, right? D Wade has more championships than this whole franchise, but the 3 point shot is keeping us back.

"And what if, in two years, when Wade is a free agent again, James walks in with—or texts over—an honest proposal? What if he asks Wade to return the favor and come to Cleveland, to rekindle their on-court connection and help him break through again?

After all, Wade doesn't appear close to done yet, averaging 22.8 points on 51.7 percent from the field this season.

"Ha, ha!" Wade said. "Ha, ha, ha! Ahhh! That's funny!"

Funny enough that the loud laughter went on for six seconds.

"That is funny," Wade said. "I can't, I ain't even got an answer for that. Man, that's funny. We're gonna leave it at that."

Maybe so. Or maybe that will be just another good laugh for two great friends to share."

The man is smart enough to dodge answering the question. He's coming...
