Four Team Deal Sends Howard to Lakers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

The Hawks had the best young center and pg in the East?
Here's the problem, as I see it:

Everybody agrees the Bynum/Andy/Howard pieces fit and works. The problems are in the details, even if everybody signs an extension.

Orlando wants to get rid of some bad contracts too. If the Cavs take on another bad contract, and have to give Bynum a max contract, then there goes the flexibility to improve that team from a 4th-5th seed, to one that can truly contend.

Also, Orlando wants picks. LAL doesn't have any. So those are Cavs picks, probably 2 1st rounders, partially protected.

For the Cavs to become contenders, they will have had to have hit "home-runs" on Dion, Zeller, and TT.

That is a big price to pay to become the Atlanta Hawks.

We have the best PG in the East? I love Kyrie, but I still don't think he's better than Rondo, a healthy Rose, or Williams YET. Notice I said yet.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Not yet, but my point was the Hawks never had two top tier talents that had the chance to the best of their position.
Joe Johnson, Smith, Harford... Nice Players.. They are not at the level of a Bynum or Irving... We dont pass on this deal because it could turn us into the Hawks was the point I was making.

The big difference is that Bynum would be coming to a team with a 20-year-old future superstar, along with a young PF to do the dirty work, a scoring wing with boat loads of potential, and a young backup C to help limit Bynum's minutes. When Johnson joined Al Harrington, sure they were a good duo with some potential, but more like All-Star potential. Bynum and Irving would have superstar potential as a duo. Add in Zeller, Waiters, and Thompson, and that can put you over the top in a hurry, even if Thompson and Waiters don't reach the ceiling that the FO thinks they can.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

The Hawks would be our floor if we get Bynum.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Bynum's agent has made all the rounds. Obviously wants to get the word out that his client is a key player in this whole thing. It is starting to sound like the agent made the calls, not the reporters.

Andrew Bynum's agent says no teams have contacted him about trades

Dwight Howard may have verbally consented to becoming a Laker for years to come, but there’s still no telling whether Andrew Bynum would be willing to do his part to make a blockbuster trade involving the All-Star centers happen.

Bynum’s agent, David Lee, said Thursday afternoon that his client has not told him whether he would be willing to sign a contract extension with another team besides the Lakers, a move that is widely considered a precursor to any trade involving Howard and the Lakers.

“We’ve never had that conversation,” Lee said. “If we had a conversation every time there was talk about a trade, we’d be talking about other teams more than we would the Lakers.”

Howard has signaled that he would be open to signing a long-term extension with the Lakers should Orlando trade the long-disgruntled center, according to RealGM.com. But no moves appear imminent.

A Yahoo Sports report stated that the Cleveland Cavaliers would only be willing to participate in a three-team trade involving Howard if they had assurances that Bynum would commit to them long-term.

Lee said no teams — including the Lakers — have called to discuss any potential trades involving Bynum or preferred destinations for his client, who will become a free agent after next season.

“I think at a point in time someone would like to know where he stands,” Lee said, “but that’s just my feelings.”

Reports that surfaced last week alleging which teams Bynum would be willing to play for long-term bewildered Lee because the agent was on a fishing trip in Alaska with Bynum at the time.

“Neither of us were accessible,” Lee said. “Where that list came from, I have no clue.”

Discussions between the Lakers and Lee about a contract extension for Bynum have not commenced, the agent said.

“I would anticipate” they would start soon, Lee said, “but I leave that up to Jimmy [Buss] and Mitch [Kupchak]. I’ll let that take its natural course.”

Bynum returned to the continental United States earlier this week after catching some halibut and salmon on his trip.

Well at least the trade has not died and Houston has not jumped in as the "third team" yet. Wonder if La and Cle will lose patience with Orlando in the next couple days. Basically, someone says "are we doing this or not?"

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Windy Not optimistic it will happen!
Players will not sign extension until end of next year.. would lose too much money
Cavs know this and are still willing to take on the risk as long as they get assurance he will sign after the year

Does not think this deal will happen though.. too many obstacles..
Cavs will need to make major trade at some point.. Will never sign a big time FA.. just reality
Grant knows the importance of pulling off a major trade.. that is why they are trying to so hard to get Bynum

Thinks the Cavs need to be patient and continue to be aggressive in the trade market!
Brian does not know enough to state a firm opinion on Waiters
Rodea interupts Windy to say "he hates the pick several times"

Final thoughts on trade possibility "I dont think they have ever gotten to second base with this deal. Does not think the Magic will ever make this deal! They are not getting enough from the Cavs! Plus players will wait till FA to sign extensions.
Cavs have actaually been talking to Orl for 6-7 months as third team in Howard talks!

Rodea sounds upset and bumbed! (reminds me of when his Idol Tim Couch was booed out of Cleveland)
Reghi did very little talking... then blames the Cba for the deal not happening after Windy hangs up.
