How to IMPROVE RCF?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Can we just ban every member that's joined in the last month?

Or just put in a writing test and a IQ test?

Please? Seriously?

That would be a logistical nightmare and too subjective. What is quality to one person is another mans garbage. I like to make jokes about Lee wearing womens clothing to work but others on this site may find that a waste of a post.

I don't mean something entirely subjective, maybe just a tracker that says "Thanks ratio: x" or "Rep ratio: x" All it would take is x=Thanks/Posts or x=Rep/posts.

Oh, and no, I wasn't specifically referring to anyone. I don't think MDog1 is a bad poster at all.

Banning anyone who brings up Heath or a Heath related post on another forum

how about the log in box back to the front page again :). And also, is it just me or I keep getting logged off every 10-15 mins, it wasn't like that before!

Just you. At least, I don't experience that problem. I use firefox, and have RCF set to log me in automatically.

One small tweak could be to put a limit on new user's avatar/sig size or even their existance. Maybe even a limit to posting images/videos in their posts. Then after the user has stuck around for at least a few months that limit could be lifted.

It's just a small tweak, but could help when rumors start during a trading deadline or offseason. Like in this instance, when a star like Amare was involved in rumors, new users came in ("came" in more ways then one...) with massive god-like Amare signature/avatars as if he's already on the team.

Just a few off the top of my head:
Negative rep
IP ban
three strike policy (starting now.. have a bad track record for insults)
IQ test to sign up

It will definitely improve quality of posts.

Negative Rep would be abused if everyone could use it. Maybe if only the mods and perhaps highly repped posters could use it.....?

If not an IQ test, perhaps a waiting period between registering and posting privileges. Then you wouldn't likely have tons of people registering at one time just to post on a breaking story, such as the Amare rumors.

Plus, forcing new posters to read before posting would give them a feel for the forum before they contribute.

Just some thoughts.

Would it be possible to have a user-defined option that takes ignoring users to the next level (let's call it "Super Ignore Posts by User X")? "Super ignoring" a user would mean their posts wouldn't even merit the empty placeholder ("This message is hidden because X is on your ignore list.").

Super ignored users would be ignored even more thoroughly (unless they're quoted). For example, anyone who has me on their ignore list would never even know I posted this message.

I imagine this might be tough to add, but during certain times of year especially, it might be useful. Since I doubt all users would want this, I suggest it as a user-defined choice. Most of the other suggestions in this thread take higher priority than this one.

:chuckles: thewuck is a cold, cold, man... Not sure if it's possible but thought it was funny.

That's what I'm talking about.

Another ignored post I'll never read from Splitz taking up space on my screen. :chuckles:

Give me my Super Ignore already!

If we had a history section on this thread, we could go through the past 20-30 years of Cavs basketball without cluttering the Cavs Talk thread.

  • Links for history reference.
  • Stats to keep track of players on our team closing in on history.
  • Players that played, profiles and more input on what they were like, a perspective to boot.
  • Stories for back in the day (Save those people, Craig! :chuckles:)
  • Team records that are broken, one by one.
  • When the team battled legendary players back in the day (Wilt? Kareem? The Old "O"? Michael getting 69 ****ing points?!).
  • Old rumors?
  • A true perspective of famous events (the Miracle of Richfield), which is an essay and not a line's worth of post? This is where I vouch for you, Wine and Gold.

C'mon! I want to see more history. I want fans to share their memories in a history section! And not some articles that connect a few minutes worth. Not all of us saw the legendary teams of 1976, 1989, or even 1992...

(or do I have to "Ask the Staff" for a new section? well, I'd like more history organized in its own section)

I'd be more than willing to contribute to that section, as I love history and love having visual proof of it. What do you all think?

I'm right with you on this rabman.

Somebody needs to make this happen.
