Notice in my post how I leave their intent to injure out of it. There is no possible way in hell of knowing whether or not Olynyk intended to injure Love or whether or not Smith intended to injure Crowder. What they intended was to commit the act which resulted in the injury.

OK, and your point is irrelevant... not knowing whether they intended to injure is the same as they didn't intend to injure because I'd assume that you would treat lack of knowledge of intent as lack of intent. How else would you treat it? OK, so modify my post to say, "it is not clear that either player intended to injure the other guy but both intentionally made reckless plays". Does this change my point at all? No. Were you being a dick for the sake of being a dick? Yes. You said "what they intended was to commit the act which resulted in the injury" which is pretty much exactly what I said two words after what you bolded and was the whole fucking point of my post.

There is a small part of me that wonders if JR was going for the rebound and simply thought Crowder was still tight on his ass. I think Crowder suffered his knee injury causing him to fall back a split second before JR swung his arm out to both box out Crowder and give himself a shot at the ball.

As for the injury to Love, that was intentional, even if it wasn't premeditated. Dropping his weight on him while holding with his left hand says it all.

No matter what, if any, punishment the league could hand down to Olynyk, it won't be enough. A whole season could
go down for one cheap shot. Precious time lost for everyone associated in any way with the Cavs as an employee or fan.

So he just happen to have Kevin's arm pinned, and accidentally, jerked it back with two hands, and didn't mean to do that?

I have no idea if he was trying to say "hey, I'll dislocate his arm", but it's pretty obvious he was trying to take a shot at Love, that had nothing to do with a basketball play.

It's hard to determine injuring/hurting Kevin was not his main objective.

Tore my labrum my freshman year of college...pitched the whole year and didn't tell anyone about it until after the season was over. Will be all about pain tolerance for K Love if he tore something and wants to play through it.

I have a torn labrum righ now in my left shoulder (also had a partially torn rotator cuff . . . Thank god it wasnt fully torn) from playing basketball with the EXACT SAME PLAY that had happen to Love. Buddy yanked back on my arm. I am setting new PRs in the gym despite having a torn labrum. But it took months to begin feeling halfway normal and 6 to 8 months to regain strength in my rear delts. Holding the squat bar still hurts a tiny bit.

But every shoulder injury is different. I pray to God that Kevin's shoulder is minimal damage and that he's back fo4 Chicago.

@RotowireATC: Looking through NBA injury data & found 2 cases of players suffering injuries termed shoulder dislocations that didn’t result in games lost.
