Matthew Dellavedova

...and can play both guard spots.

Nice to see this too...With the E'twaun Moore rumors I was mildly concerned that the Cavs were just going to use Delly for 12 minutes per game as a backup to Kyrie. This seems to imply that we'll have a 3-guard rotation With Kyrie and Dion playing ~36 minutes and Delly the remaining ~24.

Delly is a real winner. I thought Cavs would win summer league with him on the roster, but then he left. He just has it. That is all. He will do anything to win. I think he has a really long career of being a solid, and probably underrated guy in the NBA. I keep thinking his athleticism is going to keep him down, but his anticipation is so great, he can make up for it. I think he could start somewhere eventually. Hopefully, he sticks with us.

Wait...wtf is Sarunas Marciulionis doing in the HOF?

He deserves it. He and Sabonis spent the 1980s dominating international play, and in the U.S. we only saw the second half of his career. He pretty much created Lithuania's national basketball program by himself, funding and all.

This pretty much embodies your post in the bold:

That was a lot of fun and the crowd's pop made it even more impactful.

Not to turn the attention away from Delly as I loved this game as much as anyone but I think this also shows why I feel Beal is so overrated. His ability to create his own shot is average at best. Delly could never stay in front of Kyrie, Dion, or even John Wall like this. That's not meant to be a knock against Delly however, because I don't think a single player in the league can stay in front of those guys 1 on 1.

For those people using the fact that Delly can't guard the quickest and fastest point guards in the league against him, I want to say that I don't think that is his job. Some NBA players are just at a level offensively where they can't be stopped 1 on 1 which is why team defense is so important. Basically, whether or not Delly can stay in front of player A or player B shouldn't determine how good of a defender he is. His job is to make life as hard as possible on whoever he is guarding regardless of if he has to rely on his teammates to help him out. I think he does this as well as any defensive minded point guard.

I think Dellavedova playing for the Aussie team has helped his career significantly because he has been playing alongside other PG's in the backcourt, guys like Mills and now Exum. He plays both on and off the ball and that is something similar to his role here. On this year's team he's been the primary ball handler roughly 75% of the time with Exum doing the other 25% and Delly can defend both guard spots, as well. He also finishes games for Australia and it wouldn't surprise me if Delly saw lots of crunch time minutes this season.

You know the most exciting thing in the video above (not mine) was when the crowd was getting excited about the defensive effort of Delly. Such a change over just the scoring side of things.

Ummm did someone slip an ecstasy into my glass of bourbon?

Aussies won 76-74 against France today.

Baynes had 21 points and 9 boards to lead the Boomers. Delly had 10 points and 5 assists.

Yesterday, the Aussies beat the Philippines 97-75. Dellavedova had 13 in just 16 minutes along with 2 steals.

i need to count how many olympian or former olympains the Cavs have right now

Delly just tore apart the French defense with his pick and roll combo with Aaron Baynes. He defended Diaw at crucial times and is definitely their leader. I don't think he missed his trademark floater - 4/4 . He looks quicker and his handle appears much tighter too. Strong win for Australia, they were behind by double figures and were playing in France.
