Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Delonte West with leadership, intelligence and sanity in place of... whatever it is that screwed up Delonte?

If I banged LeBron's mom I'd probably be messed up afterward too. She probably gave him the clap or something.

On Douglar's quote, got, "But it's about a fourty five meter arc between..." and I completely lose it there. "These two keeks?"

those two kicks. football

Yeah, Australian rules football. He's asking Delly why basketball players can be so automatic with free throws, while "set kicks" in the AFL can seem so sporadic. They're basically kicking unimpeded dropkicks, like a punt where all you have to do kick it straight.

Ahh. When he says "IFL", he's really saying "AFL". I missed that.

Pretty sure "Jumper" means "Uniform", "Singlet" means Jersey

At 5:44 "Next wife of Australian boomers" means young ball players?

Fixed one thing for you, Douglar. Gotta imagine yourself in a Foster's Lager commercial and channel your inner Mick Dundee. :chuckles:

I had an Australian prof for my linguistics class last year. One of the most valuable things I got out of it was the ability to interpret a strong Aussie accent :chuckles:

Impressively accurate! Australian ties? Or just familiar with the game?

What's really interesting is that, similar to the wide range of American accents, Australian's can have vastly different pronunciations for the English language. For example, my accent sounds nothing like what you hear in this video. In fact, mine would be hard to distinguish as truly Australian. This is more of the 'bogan,' traditionally Australian accent. But those of us who have families that have migrated from Europe and other continents overseas might speak entirely different.

But yes, you guys are right. As an Australian, I too am not really a fan of the articulations of a 'true blue Aussie accent' :)

My accent is bogan as fuck, but I'm from the country.

To translate.

My accent is very thick, because I am from a rural area.

Yeah, good point, this is definitely true. I've started watching cricket a lot more this year, and I have to say it's pretty cool getting to hear all the different accents from all the different countries :chuckles:

In AFL and Rugby a jumper is the jersey.
Though in AFL many players wear a singlet which is also a jersey.
Clear as mud, right ?

Sorry but its a rugby shirt, it has a collar

Not sure about you guys, but I'm about as excited to see Delly this season as I am about LeBron returning. He's in a great spot and will be on the scene nationally now.

A Rugby shirt ? That will do me !!!
Maybe to the toffees in England. But to us bogan Aussies it is a Rugby jumper.
Played Rugby by 25 years and not once did I hear it called a Rugby shirt. Not even by the endless stream if Pommie backpackers we have coming through Coogee.

I had a buddy in college on the track team(he was on it, not me) from Australia, so I learned a little from him, but I like sports as a whole(particularly invasion games) way, way too much. I could walk on the field of any sport and have a basic understanding of what to do and not do.
