MLB - Trade Rumors and Speculation

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Can't steal bases if you're not on base.

Yankees play in Seattle today. Imagine being a fan who doesn't hear this before going to the game tonight and seeing Ichiro come out in pinstripes.

I mean, the Yankees gave up absolutely nothing for him.

Great deal by them, sort of a tag back by Cashman for the Pineda fiasco.

Ichiro apparently requested a trade, which makes sense since he was a 10-5 guy and needed to waive his no-trade anyway.

Must be a kick in the dick to Seattle fans though, if they're anything like Cleveland they'll probably blame it on ownership.

Anibal Sanchez would probably be the Indians ace.

Can't believe people are actually acting like getting Ichiro is a significant move still.

This guy should be a 4th OF at best by now, only still starting because of name value. He sucks.

Yes, I follow baseball, and it wasn't a dig at the Indians. He's a good pitcher and better than anyone they have.

I'm not sure how many guys would take Masterson over Sanchez.

Will be interesting to see how he fares leaving the NL for the AL.

He's going to start for the Yankees because Gardner is out for the season. He will do better in NY though given the jet stream in right.

My exact thought when I saw the deal.

The Indians are in an interesting spot. Unless a miracle happens, the team, as constructed, will not make the playoffs. Unless they make several deals, that isn't going to change. At the same time, they are under pressure from a fan base that is already supporting the team at an all-time low to do something. They also know that the current "window" of contention ends in 2014.

They won't get much for anyone as sellers unless they deal Perez and/or Choo and if they do that, they are hurting next year's team as well.

The best option seems to be to look at players who are locked into contracts beyond this year. That means looking at the following players, to name a few:

- Chase Headley
- Vernon Wells
- Corey Hart
- Hunter Pence
- Matt Garza
- John Lannan
- Wandy Rodriguez
- Rafeal Betancourt
- Nate Schierholtz
- Peter Bourjos

- Chase Headley
- Vernon Wells - Garbage and his contract is immovable
- Corey Hart
- Hunter Pence
- Matt Garza - Just not worth what's all the interest that's being given IMO.
- John Lannan - Just not good, make Jamie Moyer look like Walter Johnson
- Wandy Rodriguez - A lot of money to take on, but a good pitcher
- Rafeal Betancourt
- Nate Schierholtz
- Peter Bourjos
- Marginal

Not alot of interest in most of this list, but for the price of the other guys I do like it doesn't seem worth it. I'd rather wait until the offseason to see what's available then.

I disagree, with all the games we play against Central Division teams, a few moves could help us out and we could make a comeback in the division.

some could point the White soz and tigers moves show their commitment to winning now

our pitching has been so awful lately that it would take more than a move or two to make us a contender even in the Central

I Kind of agree However I hope people see how this off season set this team back right now and just goes to show for whatever reason they do not want to take the steps to building a contending team and just hope to get luck a year here or there. I am getting tired of this approach and the fact the team Is not exciting to watch at all unless you like good defense. To make It worse even If this team did make the play offs I still would be hard pressed to sit through the whole game. If they make a few or one exciting good move. They might be able to at least a very slim shot at teams like the Yanks and Texas. I agree their record and amount of games are there and not yet out of It. The next level however has not been reached and each off season I hope they get that ONE just one guy that can make this team better. The failure to even bring up LaPorta and stills plays that bum Cunningham shows how ignorant this FO Is.
