Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My fretboard is dryer than hell. Of all the things I have for my guitar, fretboard finishing oil and a hard shell case is what I lack. At least I can still smell the wood, in the sound hole. It's at this point where I'm wondering why I didn't go for the piano vs an acoustic guitar.

Writing has slowed to a crawl. I've got nothing in me. Damn it!

nicky, when are you going to post something you wrote

piano just seems so difficult to me.. I can fuck around on one, and im sure its just a matter of practice to get a full instinctual understanding of the notes and finger positions, but that stuff is crazy. Its also much, much easier to write much better music on piano.. Kinda wish I started on it

1. because I suck at guitar and I don't have any melodies to what I've written.

I'm aware that my approach is probably very backwards, and I tend to focus on my thoughts, first and foremost.

I dont think I've ever been this let down by a musical release... Mindless Self Indulgence has been doing dance/punk/hip hop beats for a decade and a half and mainstream music for the last couple of years has been full of dance and dubstep.. I really thought they'd be able to take some of whats been going on and incorporate it into some incredible and innovative stuff, but this cd is just shit. Literally, the whole fucking thing. There's one good song, and here it is, wait for the chorus

Zeitgeist received awful reviews from everyone. Dont know why. listen to this shit.. chorus is insane

my chemical romance broke up like a week ago.. Downloaded "Unconventioinal Weapons" which I thought was just new material and its absolute shit. Went to allmusic.com to look for reviews and it doesnt even mention the cd.. Kinda made me sad, thought mcr's record sales were so low that they were just no longer seen as relevant, so much so that a site like allmusic doesnt even recognize their new cd.

Turns out the story isnt as bad as that.. The CD was unreleased material (see: bsides) from before Danger Days and the guitarist has put out a side project (which is absolutely terrible, but deezy might like it because its abstract electro rock, like aphex twins style) and is clearly going in a different direction than the rest of the band, who is rumored to reform under a new name (guitarist probably owns part of the name, they cant go on using it without his permission or giving him a cut). So that all makes sense.

It really is fucking shocking how Fallout Boy and MCR were geared up to be the face of music in 2005 and then its like it never came to fruition.. They had new sounds and great energy and strong songwriting skills, and then Danger Days sold like 20,000, and both bands broke up. Good to hear FOB is back and about to release something and that Patrick Stump isnt so fat anymore

Going through my journal, which is halfway full, and I'm realizing that I must have ADD when it comes to writing. I'd say 90% of what I write is nowhere near completion. I'm not even sure if my approach is right. I just started writing a list of words of how I'm feeling on one side, and then go from there. I don't write for long periods of time.

I'm working on what I've entitled "Mercy". And I'll have a thought about it, and then forget it. As I only keep my journal by my bed. But I think the random words on the side may get me to focus more.

Literally haven't done any singing as I am prone to Bronchical infections(Cigarette smokers do it to me, often). So, I'm literally coughing all day. I've had Mucinex DM and Delsym, both of which have failed, miserably. I know the last straw is to go to the doctor for this magical cough medicine that costs $90. It works wonders, and I'm realizing that I am far too lazy to sit in a waiting room. The only time I can belt something out, is in the shower (I refer to that as my acoustic sessions). Haven't done scales since the beginning of March. I sleep with a cool most humidifier.... Drink hot lemon/honey water, which is disgusting. But I'll eventually take my ass to the doctor and get this magical elixir.

I also made a promise to myself to really step up my guitar play. I think I finally found somewhere to move to, so my stress level is decreasing. I've wanted to punch a whole in my guitar A LOT, but I feel as if I'm in a calm space to not do that.

And lastly: When good lyrics/songs happen to horrible singers -- Why does Rihanna attempt to sing ballads? I love the song "Stay", but literally cannot stand her vocals. She should never try to do "runs"... her vocals are not full enough for ballads. Literally sounds like a cat, screaming. And yes, I paid $1.29 for that song because I want to learn it.

I've revamped my iTunes from 1000 songs to 640, so I can add more songs that interest/inspire me. There is so much music out there, I know I'm missing out on some greatness.

**FOB has a song with Elton John and Patrick's vocals on that song are insane.
***Lead singer from Fun -- I can only take his vocals in small doses.

I really liked that song she did about cheating on the guy, something about 'dont wanna be a murderer'. I prefer this to the other bullshit she comes up with, but youre right, her voice isnt suited for that type of stuff. Give it to Adelle or someone else.

Sia is fucking fantastic. Just rediscovered her. I dont know who's writing her music, shes got enough natural skill and some sort of ability to sing runs in weird keys so some of it has to be her.. They never hit the note or chord progression youre expecting.

I have an asthmatic/bronchial type of reaction when around people who smoke. I don't even have to be around them that long, it builds up over time and then develops into what I call the "death" cough. This will be the 4th time I've had it, in the last 11+ years. I'll self diagnosis myself and say that I'll likely get cancer from secondhand smoke. I rarely get sick, but this takes me out of the game for months at a time.

That Rihanna song you're talking about "Unfaithful".... Vocally atrocious!

I just heard this for the first time, last Thursday. I'm awesomely late.

THIS is my favorite song of theirs. I could be in the worst mood and this just makes everything much better. Can't believe this didn't make the cut on their greatest hits album.

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ouitmsVcXqY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

This is my favorite song off of the "Hot Fuss" album. For reasons I can't even explain. I just get really odd looks by people if I'm listening to this "type" of music, in my car. I do love Indie Rock n Roll!

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_aK3JXbhAHQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Also, left my guitar in a freezing room of the house. I'm afraid it's going to sound like crap, tomorrow. And with one dose of my antibiotics, my "death" cough is mellowing out. Gotta love acute bronchitis. And now it's time for the crappy tussin medicine. I hate medicine routines.

Somebody introduce my ears to some new music, please. I feel as if my ears are locked in a season of hell with the same music. I'm always up for expansion.... musically speaking.

**Dave, I just realized that this thread has become "ours"..... sell all your shares, now!

i finally caved and started tuning my guitar properly. guitar sounds a lot better, but transposing everything I know is gonna suck. should have everything after a week.

Nicky - have to, have to get Sia if you havent already... Yael Naim is still a favorite.. silverchair -DIORAMA or YOUNG MODERN are what you should listen to. Dude is a brilliant composer, so colorful. Zedd is about to be really big. Clarity is on the radio.. Hourglass is fantastically composed

Killers are a big band for me.. firstly, Hot Fuss is the last CD i purchased. Secondly, i remember vividly the guitarist of my band in highschool saying they were destined to be a one hit wonder with 'somebody told me'.. thirdly, they proved to be integral in changing the face of music and they dont get credit for it.. Drums are picked up from the constant half time used in rapcore and other popular music at the time, to be more dancy. All drums are like this now. New wave came back becaues of them. 4. what the hell happened with this band? isnt it just bflowers and a bunch of randoms now? is he like.. that difficult to deal with or something? 5. I genearlly dont like their music.

I actually think Panic! is a gifted band. Their first cd fit in with what was becoming big at the time (mcr and fob) but they had some incredible tracks.. theres one with an insanely complex drum breakdown.. They use weird chord structures and excel at melody. I listened to the one after that and they cleraly listened to a lot of beatles.. it was good, but theyve obviously changed a lot.

Nicky, you would actually like Hot Hot Heat (if you havent checked them out yet). Get the one called 'elevator' something.. Also check out The Kinks, Rooney is good, Libertines (if youre feeling a little punkrock-ey) and the fratellis. Mika is also interesting.
