Offseason Rumors

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If the Jays trade an OF, smart money is on Jose Bautista.

On twitter people think its going to be Puig for Salazar... Not media but fans, Yikes.

If the Tribe deals with the Blue Jays, I could see Chris Colabello being involved. Obviously not the centerpiece, but would be a nice addition.

Hard pass.

Much like Randal Grichuk, Colabello is staring at a major regression next year. His BABIP was .411. Plus he's an absolutely atrocious defensive player, which would likely limit him to DH-ing in Cleveland.

Not to mention his "breakout" came at age 32.

Just, no.

I would rather find the next Chris Colabello (borderline AAAA guy who needs a desperate team to give him a chance in a strict platoon). Thing is this is why they have Jerry Sands a shot, along with guys like Shelley Duncan. Got to go through several of these types to find the Colabellos and Blakes.

Some names in that sort of situation who could have that kind of potential:

Matt Hague
Steven Pierce
Matt Davidson
JP Arencibia (have him DH)
Kila Ka'aihue
Chris Parmalee
Joey Butler
Kennys Vargas
Jesus Montero
Jamie Romak
Cody Decker

As you can see, ton of borderline guys who in my opinion have the skills to be a Colabello... But obviously never will. Got to do serious sifting to get lucky and find the Colabellos/Raburns.

I think Jon Singleton might be available too considering he is on a long term deal but not able to crack the bigleague lineup. Not certain on that though. Of course then Houston may be open to dumping Carter for cheap, then. Dunno.

Yasiel Puig....

Could double attendance if we get him. Might even fill up part of those railroad cars out in the upper deck a couple games a year.

And I'm midway through my snarky post and I realize that he probably would actually increase attendance and thus I think it has a chance of happening.

I mean, wasn't it rumored the Indians were interested in Puig at the deadline? Makes sense.
I'm merely steering who I want from the Dodgers. They might try with Puig for all I know. Great talent but a 10 cent head. Maybe he is the next Albert Belle, maybe he is Wily Mo Pena. He scares me if it costs a Salazar or more.

Puig and Cespedes are so underrated. Would be a perfect fit.

lolz

I can agree that bringing in "big names" would increase attendance a little, but honestly, winning is the important thing. I think the big names would only increase attendance the classic Indians way, the first week-2 weeks.

Hopefully these big names are also good players, so winning would hopefully keep our attendance up.

You also have to take into account that families have 81 games to see the team. Most aren't die hard baseball fans. And probably the biggest problem? The Indians always start so damn slow. When have we actually had a winning record after the first few weeks/month? We were 2.4 million fans shy behind LA Dodgers this past year. And you know how cheap our fucking tickets are?

I think the only thing that is going to get asses in those seats is winning. And even that isn't guaranteed. Not craft beers and footlong hot dogs with caviar and 2 more regular hot dogs on top.
