I honestly don't think that some of you watched many Cavs games this season. Gee's value is NOT well reflected in box scores and stats -- although he's certainly had some GREAT statistical games. Obviously, like any young developing player, he needs to improve his efficiency and consistency. But his defense is very good at this stage, and he has the athleticism and work ethic to become an elite defender (something the box score cant tell you).

So if that's what you're using to make claims that he's not worth a REASONABLE contract, then you might want to actually watch a couple games before making such claims. If you think that Gee is worth $2 million per year, then you obviously haven't watch a lot of Cavs games this year.

Moreover, given his work ethic and knowledge of Byron's system, Gee can start to be a "veteran" presence to the new rookies next year.

comparing him to Hot Rod Williams cmon folks

I don't think we are at the stage of having to overpay marginal players like we did in the past with Ira Newble & Kevin Ollie

I think Gee has more upside even if he is ceiling is top bench player

BTW: we are paying Casspi 2.2 million next year, I'd say 3-4 million for Gee is not THAT outrageous

also EVEN if we draft MKG , I don't see him playing big minutes initially . . . hell how long did it take KI to play more than 26 minutes a night!

the Cavs will be smart they will match only if it makes sense

hell if the Suns want Gee THAT bad , let them do a sign and trade for their 1st pick this year

would you rather have Gee or one of the players slotted to go 13th or lower like

3.4 or even 4 mill is not bad for Gee, but I just dont want to get carried away on a contract. If Phoenix offers him 5 years 30 million, you have to let him walk, he is not worth it.

there are prearranged draft picks that happen all the time

remember the Cavs at one time arranged to picked Jamaal Crawford for the Bulls so we could swap him for Chris Mihm . . . it DOES happen

As we're seeing with the Thunder right now, it's all about surrounding your core with young guys who can grow with them on affordable contracts... As long as Gee's contract doesn't get outrageous, the Cavs should definitely try to keep him... They need keep players like Gee who they can keep at an affordable contract and it didn't take much at all for them to acquire... Gee can be a valuable piece to any playoff team because of what he brings to a team... And I expect him to keep him improving, which makes him a very good piece to keep on this team...

there are prearranged draft picks that happen and are traded on draft day. this year draft day is june 28.

alonzo gee can't be signed to any kind of contract (by the cavs) or any offer sheet (by phoenix or by anyone else) until july 11.

you're telling me that the suns are going to pick a player the Cavs want, sit on their hands for 2 weeks, then hope that Gee agrees to a sign-and-trade between the Suns/Cavs instead of finding the best offer he can get from any team in the league? a lot of luck and good fortune would have to be involved. i don't see Phoenix drafting a player they don't want. they would be crazy not to. maybe it's a player the Cavs want too, but there's no guarantee. i also don't think gee, as much as i like him, is worth the Suns trading a #13 pick. phoenix would have to get much more in return or to shed some seriously bad contract.

this is *not* the kind of prearranged draft pick that happens all of the time. way too many moving parts to have high expectations it could happen.

And to people think we have a choice or not to overpay FAs.....this is Cleveland. If we want UFA and FAs period we have to overpay. Is it fair to us...no. but its the nature of the beast. Every good team has one or two crazy contacts on it. You guys are dreaming if you think we can get good again with a team of MLE players.


If Hardin wants max to come here.....give it to him because we need young talent.this is of course if you only want a quick fix with a small window.
