Albeit with shitty talent around him.

Granted, I'm really not in love with the guy. But what failure he had last year, he had with crappy talent. Give the guy a legitimate #1 receiver and a stable running back situation and see how he does. This would be the do or die year by my estimation. With RG3 off the table, I'm really leaning towards building up the offense a little bit and giving Colt one last shot. What can it hurt?

The same shit I've been saying since the start over and over. Fuck all you guys. :chuckles:

You've been saying this shit since before draft order was even established. Before we knew the Browns had no shot at Luck or RG3. Now that the top talents are gone, I wouldn't kill myself if we gave him another year. But if you think for a second that this is the scenario Heckert wanted, you are horribly mistaken.

So there are 2 polls out there now for our next QB. This poll suggests we would reluctantly accept Matt Flynn as our QB. Right now 58% say no to Flynn while 42% says yes. Those aren't good numbers for Matt Flynn but when you compare them to Ryan Tannehill it's a landslide. Currently Tannehill is 95% No and 5% Yes.

I'd be curious to see a poll where we list all the options
Tannehill
Flynn
Weeden
McCoy
Other

I have a sneaking suspicion Weeden might win.

The poll should be this:

Tannehill (with top 10 pick)
Flynn (for $50 Million)
Weeden (with 2nd rounder or maybe even pick 22)
McCoy

Give me McCoy.

Give him Blackmon and a FA receiver. If he sucks, at least we'll know beyond any shadow of a doubt. By the way, the throws Flynn made against Detroit were not any more impressive than those made by Colt vs. New England or @ Pittsburgh in his first career start.

I have the same concerns. I'd rather have another QB but don't really want to acquire anything via the means necessary. But on the other hand, it seems pretty clear that H&H do not see McCoy as the solution any longer, so you're kind of prolonging the inevitable.

If push comes to shove, I think I'd roll the dice with Flynn. Browns need to make some serious moves for a QB and Flynn may work out here.

Colt McCoy, flat out, should not be an option to start next year. A weak armed, inaccurate QB who is tiny and gets hurt a lot has no place on this or any other team outside of being a backup.

I'm now convinced that people are on the McCoy train because he is a good ol country boy and because they forgot how flat out fucking terrible he was last year. There is no other explanation for why people want him back.

Or...

Keeping McCoy doesn't cost a draft pick. If we don't consider Tannehill or Weeden a long-term solution, it would be a terrible idea to waste a high draft pick for a guy who would only be here for a year.

If we stick with McCoy, we can re-evaluate the QB position next year, and have another chance at a Griffin-caliber prospect. And, as much as you hate to hear it, there's always the chance that McCoy can turn a corner and show some development. I don't expect it to happen, but it's still a safer gamble than spending the #4, #22 or #37 pick on a bad QB just because we don't like the guy we have now.

That's exactly right. Keeping McCoy as the starter would have much more to do with a restrictive situation than believing he's going to be successful. It is what it is.

If we keep McCoy - two situations pan out. He gets better, we win more and can say QB is not our immediate need. If he sucks, we know QB is our #1 need, we get a high draft pick cos we lose more games.

OfCourse The only negative with that is 2012 may be unwatchable if one is a Browns fan.

And literally the talent around him was THAT bad.

It's also unlikely we'll have to worry about Dan Snyder over-paying for the next elite QB prospect.

With Al Davis gone, Washington out of draft picks, and a QB in Cincinnati, the crazy should be out of the market next year.

Jarret Brown just to be sure that we can land Barkley or whoever else next season in the top of the draft.

And yet Oakland still shipped out a first and a conditional first midseason as a knee jerk reaction to their quarterback getting injured.

Not to mention said quarterback didn't play for a year and Mike Brown would have been lucky to ship him out for ONE 3rd rounder to any other sane team. But he is a stubborn asshole who was lucky the Raiders were stupid enough to meet his insane trade demands.

Seems like the Oakland crazy didn't die with Al Davis.
