The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's almost exactly what it is, honestly. It's the world of Fallout (and, really, Fallout was basically inspired by the original Wasteland) with the turn-based gameplay of X-COM. The only real difference is that Fallout's world has that distinct 50's vision of the future aesthetic, whereas the world in Wasteland is more like our own.

I mean both the original Wasteland and the Original Fallout were done by the same studio if not by some of the same people.

The most overlooked thing about the games imo is Brian Fargo since he was the lead on both projects. Interplay lost the rights to Wasteland to EA (publisher). If it wasn't for that Fallout would have been the official successor to Wasteland as that was the intended purpose when they started development.

One of the weirdest histories for a series (fallout & wasteland) in the video game industry if you ask me.

Ah...makes sense then that it's similar to Fallout, although the similarity is in setting more than gameplay. I guess the gameplay is a lot more similar to the original two Fallout games, but I'm sure most people here are more familiar with the style of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, which was more like the Elder Scrolls games gameplay-wise than the first two Fallout games.

Just played the Halo 5 multiplayer beta. Lasted two games before shutting it off. Not that I was really a big fan of 343 Studios to begin with (Halo 4 was the worst in the series imo), but they have finally completely turned Halo into a CoD clone. What a disappointment.

Been playing Assassin's Creed 2 (never played the first one), I'm pretty far into the game and I have no idea what is going on. There's so many random characters that you have to kill and it's so hard to remember who they are or why you are supposed to kill them. Every mission is like "Pasta de Pizza has found the location of Alexandrio de Speghetti-o's, go to the Plaza de la Rigatoni and kill him". Also, the whole futuristic story line just seems stupid, you never do anything in that story line.

It's still a fun game though.

The story was definitely more coherent in AC1, but AC2 just had a much, much better setting. But let's be real here...Ubisoft hasn't had a fucking clue what the AC story was about since like the third game. I play them now and have no idea what the fuck they're trying to do.

When I played the first few AC games, I thought the obvious end game was that Desmond would use the powers and knowledge he had gained from the games to become a modern day assassin. I mean, that's what the games were leaning toward, right? I still don't know how that didn't happen and how we got subjected to the games as they are now that just don't seem to have any direction. Very disappointing.

Honestly never cared about AC story. And I'm pretty pro-plot in video games. So few have one worth bothering with.

AC2 was the best one in the series, easily. Perfect setting, characters, gameplay, everything.

I haven't bothered with an AC game since AC3. Kinda wish they would have shifted towards an all modern-day plot after the Ezio Auditore plotline finished.

To me the ideal set-up would have been what they seemed to be going for in the Ezio trilogy, with some modern day platforming and assassination missions mixed in with him learning new abilities through his ancestors. Again, I have no idea how that didn't happen, as it was basically what the games were very obviously heading toward. Now they just have absolutely no direction.

Right, almost like AC2 but in reverse - more emphasis on the modern day setting, with a little bit of the past setting thrown in.

I finished Spec Ops The Line today, was really let down by plot holes. I was expecting to be blown away but it kinda pissed me off a bit

edit- decided id play Red Alert 2, and the launcher to choose between RA2 and Yuri's revenge doesnt do anything when i click on either..grrr

I don't get stressed out, but I know what you're saying. Sometimes I scroll through my Steam install list and just can't decide on a game to play, so I just don't play anything or go back to TF2. :chuckle:

lol yeah stressed out was too strong, but that describes my thought process exactly...it also explains why you're always on TF2 haha

Well, that and it's one of the only games I can play repeatedly and not really get bored with it. Also, I'm good at it, which means I don't have to try very hard if I'm just in the mood to game casually.
