Trade Deadline ––> Waiver/Buyout Deadline 2015 (March 1)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Reality is the Cavs made their trade deadline trades ..but I'll be curious if they go after Perkins.
I don't think Ray Ray and Perkins get along. And I really don't think Perkins likes LeBron. He would be a great fit though.

I can never take OKC serious for the following reasons:

1) Trading James Harden for crap.
Kevin Martin and what eventually became Lamb and Adams. Not exactly striking it rich, but I don't remember them turning down other great deals in order to take that one. Their biggest mistake was not making one more run with the 3 of them.
2) Numerous bad picks (Boubois, Pondexter, Brackins, Jones) trading Bledsoe.
Are bad picks exclusive to the Thunder? You could make a list like that for most teams, probably.
3) Westbrook & Durant do not fit together. I dont care how good both are. They should have traded Westbrook for CP3 when they had the chance.
2nd, 1st, 2nd, 4th place finishes in the last four years. Yeah, those two must be awful together. As far as trading Westbrook for Paul, I've never heard anyone credible report that.
4) Westbrook insists on shooting
He is the second most gifted offensive player on that team...by far...why shouldn't he shoot?
5) Ibaka takes 12-15 footers...you are stronger than anyone...stay in the damn paint.
Having a guy that can play down low and step out and make a jump shot...seems more valuable to me than a one dimensional banger.
6) Scott Brooks is a terrible coach. He is the white Mike Brown.
Scott Brooks did a pretty great job with this team, especially when you consider that his best two players don't fit together.

Not liking this trade deadline...some of our possible playoff opponents got markedly better. A little scared of Miami now if Wade is healthy.

They got better than they were. They didn't get better than the Cavs who were already way better.

Is Haywood a trade asset anymore now that we are past the deadline? Still not clear on that contract

The biggest shocker to me is KG back to MINNESOTA. You never expect anything less from Riley, I do think they gave up too much today overall. An impressive day for OKC, in one swoop they just completely built a better bench.

Cleveland didn't have to make moves, I don't think they are done though with all these buyouts looming. Perkins, Nelson, Prince, etc.

This year he is making $2 million. Next year, he is making $10.5 million non-guaranteed. So he can be traded this summer for a player making at least $10.5 million, plus the percentage allowed under salary matching requirements. Now that the deadline is over, he is worthless until the summer. I mean, he's worthless now because he is terrible, but he was only worth $2 million in a trade this year, and he won't be traded or released now. This summer he will be used to bring someone in that we couldn't bring in as a free agent due to salary. I don't have the exact dates but I think the Cavs have until August to trade or release him. But it would be pretty stupid to carry all that deadwood if you weren't going to burn it eventually.

These last minute trades done something intriguing -
You have 2 8th seed teams - Miami and OKC (won't stay 9th for long) who became really strong.
Imagine if the first round would take place next week - Atlanta vs Miami series or a GSW vs OKC series - not an easy task to choose the winner, don't you think?

Think this move is mostly to block Cavs from getting big men.

Changed the thread title to the waiver/buyout deadline of March 1.

Any current NBA player who is placed on waivers on or before March 1 is eligible to be acquired by a new team and to play in the playoffs.

Any player not currently on an NBA roster (such as Ray Allen) who is acquired before the end of the season is also eligible to play in the playoffs.

^ Target acquired.

Didn't Kenyon lobby for the Cavs to sign him and then ultimately ended up with the Bucks? Don't see him coming to Cleveland.

You would think Perkins and his agent would sniff that out and realize that minutes in Cleveland would be much easier to come by and the chance of the title just as good if not better.

But certainly the relationship with Thibs could weigh heavily.
