Trading Kyrie Irving?

Re: Look at Jackasses Who Said, "Trade Kyrie Irving"

Still just fully disagree that you don't consider trading him under any circumstances. There are circumstances where you consider it, and even Max and W&G alluded to those circumstances having already arisen this year.

Conversation has gotten silly.

Of course there are circumstances... There are also circumstances where I get to go to the wifey's no no zone, butt that is unlikely to present itself anytime soon.

But I saw a Kyrie for Heyward swap. I mean, for fucktards sake....

Team has looked good over the last few games and Kyrie looked good during the All Star game. That's it. All the BS circling him throughout the year and information alluded to by insiders on the board as well as relatively well respected sources acknowledged there have been problems with him.

Conversation has gotten silly.

If teams have been forced to consider trading Kobe and Shaq in the past and Dwight Howard, Kevin Love and Carmelo Anthony in recent times...then the Cavs can certainly have been in a situation where trading Kyrie must have been entertained.

Of course there are always circumstances, but we're talking about people just "itching" to get rid of him. You don't trade all-star talents very often, and get equal value. Teams don't want to trade their superstars/franchise players they are usually forced to.

If you're considering trading Kyrie, you're basically saying you give up on him. That notion is completely silly. You can't immediately panic this early in this career, even if he has some problems to work out.

Re: Look at Jackasses Who Said, "Trade Kyrie Irving"

Whoever proposed a Kyrie for Green or Heyward swap deserve the criticism. I was at least wanting a top 5 pick and a player.

As far as the no no zone, you just have to up your game. Throw in a Draft pICK, take the protection off of it, maybe grease the deal with some cash, maybe take a contract she doesn't want to get her under the luxury tax.

You know, lick it before you stick it

Re: Look at Jackasses Who Said, "Trade Kyrie Irving"

This thread title was changed to ridicule people who proposed irrational trades for Kyrie? Ok, that's fair game.

But the people who claim they wouldn't even consider trading him for a great offer (Top 3 lottery pick this year) are just as irrational and narrow-minded. There was actually some good discussion amongst prominent posters about the types of offers it would take to trade Kyrie. Anybody is available for the right offer.

Re: Look at Jackasses Who Said, "Trade Kyrie Irving"

I just can't get behind a trade of Kyrie. You'd really have to really dangle some bate in front of me to get me fully engorged in the deal.

Re: Look at Jackasses Who Said, "Trade Kyrie Irving"

Yeah, you don't let a team bend you over and do you dry, but we're wrist deep in the Kyrie process this year and the results have been mixed at best. It's just a sticky situation.

No, because those people are also living in a fantasy world too. I don't think there are many players in the NBA that can pry away a top-3 pick in this draft. Maybe not even LeBron given his age, and up in the air status given he can opt out. You could say Kevin Durant probably and that's it.

Those draft picks are going to be the most valued assets in the league. Emiid, Parker, and Wiggins all could potentially be franchise players and they're just 19/20 years old. You don't trade away guys like that given the security you get with them with friendly rookie contacts when you're as bad at these three franchises.

Which is why if you get that kind of offer it's too good to turn down. I was just confused as to why some posters were mocking others whom would trade Kyrie for the aforementioned deal. We should always be looking to improve and get better.

I say we send this thread to EAYOR so it really can be a party.

If anything they probably were just mocking the fact thinking we could really get that. Say for argument we feel lukewarm of him re-signing of course you definitely do that. Heck, you might just do it anyway.

But, let's be real, none of those three teams are doing it. I love Kyrie, even Kyrie on his best behavior, I'd never do that if I were those three teams. So any serious discussion for trading Kyrie should be noted that we would be 95% likely getting less value in return. That's why the idea of trading him is absurd, not because there isn't as good, if not better value out there. You're just not going to get it for him.

Rookie contracts are set up to give teams security to keeping these guys around for awhile, and get these teams time to build a team. They trade for Kyrie that's out the window and he can just walk in a few years. They'd be nuts to do that.

Re: Look at Jackasses Who Said, "Trade Kyrie Irving"

What happened in the past three or four months with Kyrie don't matter as much as the next three or four months of Kyrie's decisions... and twenty cranky potheads dragging his name through the muck after winning an ASG MVP doesn't help him become a guy who says, " Time to stand up and lead this franchise."

This isn't an email circle jerk of your closest friends. People read this stuff, including Kyrie's people. That is the difference between having concerns and being an ambassador of the community.

Re: Look at Jackasses Who Said, "Trade Kyrie Irving"

What the fuck is going on here?

This thread has quickly devolved into terrible sexual analogies and metaphors pertaining to the idea of trading Kyrie Irving.

Carry on, gentlemen.

Re: Look at Jackasses Who Said, "Trade Kyrie Irving"

People's opinions of him are reflective of how he's behaved and performed. Same goes for any sports team and any athlete. If people are reading about that and aren't happy, then that's what they get for reading about a prominent figure on the internet.

Hope he continues to step it up over the next few months. If he goes back to what he was doing before this relatively small but very encouraging sample size, then the talk will deservedly get back to what he's doing wrong. If he continues to step it up, he'll go back into the consideration of being a soon-to-be top ten player in the league and a perennial playoff contender.

Still haven't seen evidence of him being the leader someone that supremely talented can fairly be expected to be. I think if/when that's seen on a regular basis, fans will loosen up on him.

At least he raised his trade value. Getting a top 3 pick in this years draft is alot more realistic today than it was a month ago :chuckles:
