2012 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I agree that BPA works in a great deal of scenarios. For example When the lions had glaring holes and they took Calvin Johnson anyway. I remember that draft.

But this is not the nfl. We need to remove ourselves from that mindset.

I still think Perry Jones has just as much potential as Beal and he is bigger than him in the first place.

Kyrie makes everyone better and i dont think there is any situation i could say that i would not look forward to seeing a Kyrie and Jones tandem over seeing a TT and Robinson one.... I mean im just saying.

I feel like it would be a slap in the face to TT as well. I mean the dude has worked so hard and really has legitimately improved. Dont you want to see if he can get a shot going too?

Maybe then he really does become your full time starter and then you are really happy that you have TT and Jones because now you really have a core of players going not to mention our 24th pick. Rather than just a Duo.

I just dont see any situation in which im happy with having robinson even if he is great because i just see it as a waste in drafting TT.

We used our 4th pick so TT could come off the bench?

Here are my two arguments for you.

First of all Lets say like NoTitleTown says that maybe we could eventually trade TT because we have Robinson who i really have no idea how good he will actually be.

Can we get anywhere near the 4th pick in the NBA draft for him? No? I thought not. So there is a whole buttload of wasted value.

Secondly Even if we take robinson and suck more as another poster on here has said okay great so we tank again but seriously how good do you think Kyrie is going to feel about that?

Then we have to wait more time for the next rookie we draft that would nearly have to be Kyries true Robin to develop.

By the time he does Kyrie is nearing Free Agency and when he looks at our team he is going to say well we really havent won anything at all and so why should he resign?

Im tempted to say that maybe if robinson is really good that hey that would be awesome and lure him to stay but god it just hurts me inside to know that instead of having a trio of core players potentially, we potentially sit at a duo.

I mean if youre Kyrie what looks better to you?

There have been many articles that say could be quite fantastic!

Isnt there the article posted previously on here advocating taking lamb over beal?

I mean my point to you is that there isnt this hugedrop off here.

Im not even advocating either of those players.

If you are staring drummond in the face you take him over robinson all day purely based on what he might offer you alone.

Thoughts?

There is no way to respond to a post this all-over-the-place, with numerous ridiculous assumptions. Like, for example, BPA is only suited for the NFL.

Im sorry i needed to expand upon that one thought. I think BPA is relevant in a great deal of situations in the NBA but when you already have a player who you definitely think can develop in the spot that maybe the BPA would be looking to fill i think it is different than the NFL because there is a great deal less playing time to go around for players of the same position in the NBA compared to the NFL but i will say that i think eventually we would be in a position to draft BPA i think that mentality is more for teams who do not have such huge holes. If the players were a far dropoff from say beal i would agree with you but i dont think Jones or Lamb are far dropoffs.

Ideally, the Cavs would have landed the 1st pick tonight. But we still have a quality draft position and numerous assets to be a strong player on draft night. I would be surprised if we moved up in the draft. There doesn't seem to be much benefit on paper. There are a solid 4 or 5 prospects outside of Davis that may prove to be multi-time all-stars and championship pieces and I would be surprised if the Cavs had any one of them ranked that much higher.

(a) That makes ZERO sense.

(b) Ridiculous run on sentence.

We have to stop saying "we could have gotten the #1 pick but..", its not going to change anything. It happend, we are at #4..deal with it guys, seriously!

I still think that Beal will somehow fall to 4 to us. 1. Davis 2. MGK 3. Robinson 4. Beal.

1. Colin over at Cavs the blog is acting like the rebuild is over and a failure because we're landing @ 4. Simply a hack.

2. Still a good chance that Beal falls to us.....Bigs rise up draft boards the closer we get to draft day.

3. There are a LOT worse situations to be in than taking a chance on a player with the potential of Andre Drummond.

I'd expect this reaction at 5 or 6. The 4 slot just makes this all a little more interesting.

This reaction at any point is just stupid. You don't rebuild a team in two drafts -- it just doesn't happen. We will have lots of picks in the next two drafts, and lot of chances to gain talent.

Not to mention, we have 4 picks in the deepest draft in recent memory.

I just don't get this sky is falling crap that I keep hearing from Cavs fans who think this is a make or break draft. The only thing that makes sense is that there are lots of impatient 12 year olds with internet access.

Who the fuck is Colin?

I see Thomas Robinson as a player the Cavs may fall in love with. Tough, works hard, high character. I like Tristan as much as the next guy but he shouldn't prevent us from selecting Robinson. Big men are like starting pitchers. You can never have enough good ones.

Who the fuck is Colin?

One of the head writers for cavstheblog.com, part of the truehoop network and an affiliate of ESPN.

Once in a while they have some decent articles, but usually their reactionary and whiny. This guy writes like a 15 yr old girl on her period.

Sorry about my poor grammar. The point i was trying to get across is that a player like Jones is not a far dropoff from Beal and I think he should be in the discussion if beal and MKG are gone.

I actually like the idea of taking Jones, but I would hope that we'd be able to trade down for him an get another pick somehow.

Everything from MKG,Beal,Drummond,Barnes,Jones and Robinson feel similiar. Some have huge ceilings, others lower ceilings with higher floors. Davis was the only bluechipper.
