2012 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So, it is fixed. I'm not angry, we've benefited twice from the fix. But, it's hard to deny at this point when it happens almost every year. The hometown kid gets to go to his team, or the team that got screwed somehow ends up with the pick, or etc.

I just really hope and pray Jordan saves us from Barnes, or is willing to switch spots with us because he likes Barnes that much.

Holy shit, guys! It's not over! We can still possibly get the Cavs FO's second favorite player, and we can still trade up for number one. Grant even hinted that he wants to trade up, and I'm sure he'll try. Listen, even if we had lost the coin flip, that does not mean that we would've won the lottery. History isn't as easy as that. God damn it, I'm making a signature specifically explaining the butterfly effect. God damn.

I see Thomas Robinson as a player the Cavs may fall in love with. Tough, works hard, high character. I like Tristan as much as the next guy but he shouldn't prevent us from selecting Robinson. Big men are like starting pitchers. You can never have enough good ones.

In that case bring him on. I want no part in Barnes. Shabazz next yr too.

No, if we lost the coin flip we still don't win the lottery. New Orleans was winning that lottery no matter where they ended up. It's fixed.

And I agree, it's not over, I'm ok with the 4th pick (so long as we don't pick Barnes), but you've lost it if you think a team is trading number 1. The ONLY chance that happens is if we trade Irving for it. That's it.

Shit. It'll probably be gone in the shuffle, but here it is:

People are under-rating Harrison Barnes. He is going to be a better player in the pros. If he plays with Kyrie he's going to thrive. All of those shots that Antawn Jamsion chucked up, give those to Harrison Barnes and I'll sleep better with that percentage. He's got a really smooth stroke, and the additional space in the pro game is going to help his game.

Only problem with Barnes is I feel it would make Cleveland a playoff team without true depth (Mediocrity). Add in marginal players every draft and ehhh:mad:...

I'd rather swing for the fences on Drummond than take a safer player like Barnes. If you whiff, then you go right back to the lottery and try again somehow..... If you can have game-changers at 1-5 then the rest of the team fills out beautifully. 2-3-4's are often interchangable, more easily aquired to round out a team than trying to trade for a Center or a Point Guard.

I think Jordan takes Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. He cannot affort to potentially whiff on a guy like Drummond. His credibility would be shattered, he'd prolly sell the team. He will fall in love with MKG's work ethic and take the safe pick. I also don't see him getting overly risky with taking Harrison Barnes either, however with both of their obsessions with 'branding' who knows.

If anyone is going with a risky pick, it's going to be Washington's dumb-asses. They are going to take Drummond or Thomas Robinson. I think Robinson is the safer pick, but Drummond eventually is going to be the better player. I can see Drummond developing at a similar pace as Andrew Bynum. It's just going to take him time to mature and develop. When he does develop, he's going to be a solid player. If he goes to Washington, it's over. His career will be born in that black hole of Washington. Nobody develops there...

If we can get Beal, then we need to take Beal because he has more potential as a player than Harrison Barnes imo.....Quicker, more athletic, better shooter, possibly clutch, James Harden type of player.

I really think there is a good chance Jordan takes Barnes. Forget the UNC ties, he needs to try and sell some tickets. At the very least, I'd HAVE to think he would seriously consider a pick swap knowing he could still get Barnes at 4.

I want Drummond. However, I think our FO really value character and skill. Barnes and T Rob has those. Barnes is touted as having a great work ethic and an elite shooter. T Rob on the other hand is like TT with his motor but with actual NBA big man skills.

If drummond is off the board by the 4th pick then it make grants job a lot easier as beal is probably available and he wont be temted to pass on him for tremndous upside potential

Have to wonder what it might cost to move from 4 to 3 or 2 if Grant really likes, say, Kidd-Gilchrist and he knows he will be gone by our pick? Let's say Charlotte or Washington really likes Thomas Robinson, but they know that he will still be there at 4...

I'm thinking of huge high profile swaps on draft day and one that comes to mind is the Webber/Hardaway trade in the 1993 Draft. Orlando basically gave GSW the No. 1 overall pick for Hardaway and three first round picks in 1996, 1998 and 2000. However, that was for the No. 1 pick and there is a certain amount of mystique that comes with drafting the No. 1 overall talent in a draft (which Webber was).

I don't think that swapping 4 for 2 would take quite as much. We have the 24th overall pick to work with.... And two first-rounders next year.

What do you guys think it would take? Would you be willing to give up 24 and maybe a lottery-protected first-rounder next year for MKG? Or 24 and the Heat's first round pick next year?

Also think it will likely come down to Drummond or Barnes. I just don't want Robinson. Completely understand BPA but picking him doesn't make sense to me after the Thompson pick last year. Don't want one of my top 4 picks to only be a backup. Jones could be in mix but see the other 2 above him.

I've been saying if the Cavs end up at #4 or below I would have no problem taking Drummond. Don't see any other available player who you would definitely say is a must have or guarantee over him. #4 was the spot where I would start to consider him.

I agree, but if the FO thinks Robinson is a better player than TT we take him regardless of who we picked where last year. Half these guys will not be impact players in the league. We need to try to grab the ones who are going to help our team in the long run at this point in the rebuild. If we end up with two solid PFs, great. We either have a great bench guy or a good trade piece. We need to maximize assets at this point. We are nowhere near committing to a specific roster outside of Kyrie.

Ok After Davis Everyone Is a question and even Davis has some Questions himself however like Kyrie was last year, Davis Is this year. So I like three guys In this order for our team right now In order Pending a MKG trade up, They are Beal, Robinson, and Barnes. Yes I would be ok with Drummond over Barnes however Barnes has a place In this Offense and If he can Improve a little bit then Barnes becomes a good pick and If Barnes Improves a lot he becomes... Someone. Like one poster stated MJ could trade down to get him and add a future or this years 1st round pick. Really, Players like Barnes pan out In the NBA and I really so no place for MKG on the Bobcats team. As for Drummond I would not mind It if he swings and misses this year then we get a top pick next year to. We have the Staff the foundation and the young core to turn Drummond Into the player he can be. I see A. Bynum potential In Drummond and with Kyrie and TT Drummond can learn from AV and a Defense of AV,TT,AD, would make teams mad.

Final thought... Even though Barnes gives the better fit/Offense A good big man front might be to much to pass up T-Rob, or Drummond (If MKG or Beal are not there) should be our pick. Id be happy with either T-Rob, Drummond, even though I think Barnes will be better than what we think this teams needs big men as It Is almost impossible to get a good one anywhere else than the Draft anymore.

Just knowing that Harrison Barnes is an option makes me sick. I can live with Drummond or Robinson.

To me, Robinson is a lock to at least be a very good player (tier below all-star level).... Like many have said... a David West type..... That is a lock to me. I don't see any bust potential with him.

Drummond on the other hand..... I see huge bust potential. Actually, I think it is likely that he is a bust. But his potential makes him worth that risk. I'd be ok with either.

It would just be nice if we took Valanciunas last year and we could be more excited about Robinson filling a gaping PF hole. Irving, Robinson, Vala would look pretty nice right about now.
