2012 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Does Portland really want a project like Drummond? I thought they wanted to get a veteran for one of their picks because they aren't in rebuild mode?

If reports are true, the Blazers want either Beal or Drummond......

If the Cavs move down and grab 6 and 11, that's fine. Barnes is the guy at #6 and think they would go with someone like Lamb, Rivers, Waiters, Henson, Leonard at #11. Add a point forward at #24 and they're in business.

If the Cleveland-Portland trade happens I would expect the top of the draft to go something like this:

1. Hornets- Anthony Davis
2. Bobcats- Thomas Robinson
3. Wizards- Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
4. Blazers- Andre Drummond
5. Kings- Bradley Beal
6. Cavaliers- Harrison Barnes- Cavaliers really like Barnes & want to reunite him with good buddy, Kyrie Irving.
7. Warriors- Jared Sullinger
8. Raptors- Jeremy Lamb
9. Pistons- John Henson
10. Hornets- Damian Lillard
11. Cavaliers- Tyler Zeller- Zeller is the kind of offensive-minded center the Cavaliers want to put beside Tristan Thompson; it doesn't hurt that he was a teammate of Barnes' at UNC.

That draft would set us back years and punch Kyrie's ticket out of town.

I'd take Barnes and Rivers and watch RCF burn.

Also, the fact that Portland wants Drummond so badly has instantly made me sour on him.

As unlucky as Portland has been, it would be fitting for them to fleece us and take the dominant center and vault back up to the top of the league while we watch Barnes dribble the ball off his foot on our perennial 25 win team.

I'd be ok with that draft. I want nothing to do with Lamb with the way he's been acting. I'm much higher on Ross now than Lamb. Drummond and Ross/Rivers would be a good draft, too. What I'd really like to see is us trade for the 10th pick and keep the #24 pick. Then we could draft Drummond, Rivers/Ross, Quincy Miller/Taylor/Harkless (or even two of them if one falls to the 2nd round like some say Miller might). Then we'd possibly get three starters in this draft.

That would be a solid trade. It would allow the Cavs to "swing for the fences on a pick."

Jason Lloyd said:
The Cavs took Tristan Thompson “too high” last season, and while Thompson is still incredibly raw and unpolished offensively, his attitude, work ethic and improvement already during his rookie season at least offer a glimmer of hope for the future.

The Cavs’ willingness to take a chance on a guy earlier than expected could strike again. It shouldn’t be all that surprising if the fourth pick winds up being someone no one is talking about right now. Perhaps Connecticut shooting guard Jeremy Lamb or Duke combo guard Austin Rivers, the polished, mature coach’s kid who immediately brings a confidence and swagger that is rare in a player so young.

Could this be the story?

I'm sure its just another option the Cavs have in their back pocket.

The top 5 have been in such a state of flux, that they very well could get the guy they've wanted all along at 6, and get 11 in the process. The Cavs have been rumored to be interested in MKG, Beal, Robinson, Barnes, Lamb and Drummond. That's 6 people, and at this point any one of those 6 could be available at #6.

So, if #1-3 are not the players we want, we'd obviously know who Portland is taking at #4, and the only unknown is Sac at 5. I'd say if they're gonna do this, the trigger isn't pulled until #3 pick is announced.

According to reports, the Spurs and Celtics are fans of Drummond as well. That alone confirms my interest in him.

I'm totally with you on your #11 picks. Royce White would be the perfect point forward imo. High risk/High reward though...

see, this i don't like. i think quality >>>> quantity. teams win because of the talent at the top of their roster, not the middle (or lower).

Is there really that big of a difference between 4 & 6 in this draft though?

what if the draft goes like this?

1. Davis
2. MKG
3. Beal
4. Drummond
5. Barnes

we would be fucked if that happens...that's why i'm not convinced this is a great trade (plus i want Drummond...)

..And what if it goes like this?:

1. Davis
2. Robinson
3. Beal
4. Drummond
5. Barnes

We'd look like fucking geniuses & would be looking very pretty sitting at 6 & 11. (Of course, I don't think MKG slips to #6 or Barnes is taken at #5, and if MKG is sitting there at #4, I don't think we make the trade, but you get my point).

You can question who they like, but it's tough to deny that if Barnes is their guy & MKG is off the board at #4, this trade makes a lot of sense.

The trade makes sense for the Cavs, it doesn't make sense for the Blazers. If Barnes is our guy, Drummond probably will be available at 6 for them. The only way I could see the Blazers doing the trade is if Beal is available at 4.

I think the reasoning is that if Robinson is off the board, Sacramento will take Drummond to pair with Cousins. The Blazers want to assure the acquisition of either Beal or Drummond, neither of which will probably be there at 6.
