2012-2013 Indians Red Hot Offseason Thread (Bourn signed post 1940)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)

Brett Myers isn't a very good starter, although if he can regain that 2010 form...

Assuming the price is right not a bad guy to add to the mix.

Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)

Not a bad signing assuming the price is right (which I'm sure it is). Maybe he can get his career back on track here and give the Indians some solid starter's innings at the back of the rotation.

Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)

He can't.

This is similar to the Kazmir signing. I'm not really a fan of having a bunch of players on the roster who the Indians are banking on having "comeback years" in order to contend.

Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)

This is an ugly signing.

Kazmir is on a minor league deal...he's not even on the 40 man roster. And Myers can start or relieve so he does have some versatility.

Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)

His last season as a SP he started 33 games, pitched 216 innings, walked 57 and struck out 160 with a 4.46 ERA. A solid, veteran SP, just what the Indians needed.

The next Derek Lowe?

Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)

He's better than Lowe.

He's not above average, but he's a decent inning eater. If he somehow regains his 2010 form, then he's an above average/good starter. And if he bombs as a starter or gets beaten out, he's a good bullpen arm.

Low risk signing with a potential decent reward. Still need more pitching, IMO.

Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)

@JonHeymanCBS: #indians have deal with brett myers, pending physical

@TonyIBI: According to multiple reports the Indians have agreed to a deal with free agent RHP Brett Myers on a 1-yr deal with a club option for 2014.

@hoynsie: Indians sign Brett Myers to one year deal. He 'll be in rotation

Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)

Have to imagine this pretty much wraps up the offseason. I'm sure we will see a couple more names signed as spring training invites. The only somewhat major thing I could see is a DH type signing.

Masterson
Ubaldo
Myers
And then two of Carrasco/Bauer/McAllister/Kazmir/Gomez

Lastoria disagrees:

Tony Lastoria @TonyIBI

I also dont think Myers signing wraps up the Indians offseason. Could still see 1-2 smaller FA deals or trades. Need pen lefty & more SP.

Care to expand as to why in order to further the discussion?

Why would Houston move him to the bullpen if he wasn't garbage?
