Re: Rating Coach Scott

When has Kyrie Irving ever shown you that he can play defense?

Not that he was great, but he at least gave a fuck tonight on defense. I liked his effort.

Re: Rating Coach Scott

But our defensive woes starts mainly with the guards imo. People just blow past them, causing TT and Zeller to leave their mans to provide help, which results in opposing players open all over the floor. Other than that, we switch too much. I'm tired of seeing our bigs guarding opposing point guards on every play.

Against OKC, the Cavs guards were better at both, and there was more consistent help (esp. on Westbrook on the wing). At some points, they looked like they had a scheme for dealing with some of the OKC tendencies. A little better scheme and a whole lot better effort from a lot of players.

OKC still scored 110, but perhaps that had also to do with pace, free throws, transition, and the fact they're really talented.

Byron looking like a genius for that benching last night.

Re: Rating Coach Scott

Scott's stock rose in my opinion in the Pistons game tonight. Glad to see him send a message that needs sent to this team, beginning with Kyrie Irving.

Yeah, Byron's got balls when it comes to sending messages to his players. It's good that he's showing Kyrie early on that he's not above the system. Mike Brown never would've had the balls to do something like that.

Re: Rating Coach Scott

A+

There have been up's and down's and a lot of second guessing but the development of our young guns has been apparent. Kudos to Byron and his staff.....

Re: Rating Coach Scott

It's probably been brought up already.. But we always talk about players and their trajectory for growth on the court, and how some have better ones than others.

What about coaches? Can Byron keep getting better and better? Keep learning new things and employing them? I think many agree his role as a leader, and real time game instincts are pretty good, and probably helped him get into this business in the first place. But as he learns from his mistakes over the years, and with the tools he already has, and maybe more learning is there any reason to believe he can't grow into the best coach in the league? I think it's already fair to say he's a good/great fit for this team at the very least.

Re: Rating Coach Scott

Another terrible coaching effort tonight vs Wolves. Dion was getting to rim at will but coach would rather watch Chucking Jumpers brick threes.

Re: Rating Coach Scott

Byron can stay until our core is in place and players have developed a bit, but then he's got to go. He's terrible.

And for anyone who thinks he's trying to tank, wake up. He's not...he's just bad.

Re: Rating Coach Scott

Ready for a new coach

Re: Rating Coach Scott

....I wish we had Rick Adelman. For my money, one of the best in the NBA.

Instead, we have Byron Scott, who I can say is pretty marginal, at absolute best.

Re: Rating Coach Scott

How does Waiters, 6-6, sit the entire fourth for CJ freakin' Miles. Was he hurt?

He's definitely just a seat warmer until they're ready to contend.

Re: Rating Coach Scott

Does he even draw up plays when Irving's on the floor? Seems like most of the time it's just "Ok, you four go run in circles and Kyrie will figure something out!"

EDIT: At least he's good with substitutions, defense, etc. Oh wait...

Re: Rating Coach Scott

Terrible. Absolutely inexcusable. There's no "lesson teaching" this time, can't use that bullshit cop out again. Dion was playing great out there. Fuck. It will be a shame when we're ready to contend in a couple years and Scott is fucking up and blowing playoff games doing dumb shit like this.

Re: Rating Coach Scott

Byron Scott is fine. Kyrie can't run an offense or at least doesn't care enough to try and run one. It's almost as if the bench is better then the starters. When the bench comes in and Livingston is running things, at least 4 or 5 of the guys on the floor touch the ball and the offense has a flow. When Kyrie is in the game, the ball stops and every play winds up being a Kyrie hero shot play. There is a noticeable difference in the way the offense is run when Livingston, Walton, Speights, CJ, and Ellington are on the floor compared to Kyrie, Dion, TT, Gee, and Zeller. There is more way ball movement in the half court, not to mention the increased defensive intensity when the bench is in.

Re: Rating Coach Scott

I can't wait to hear Byron's response when asked about not putting Dion back in. I'm sure it will be completely filled with bullshit.
