Re: Rating Coach Scott

Byron Scott is fine. Kyrie can't run an offense or at least doesn't care enough to try and run one. It's almost as if the bench is better then the starters. When the bench comes in and Livingston is running things, at least 4 or 5 of the guys on the floor touch the ball and the offense has a flow. When Kyrie is in the game, the ball stops and every play winds up being a Kyrie hero shot play. There is a noticeable difference in the way the offense is ran when Livingston, Walton, Speights, CJ, and Ellington are on the floor compared to Kyrie, Dion, TT, Gee, and Zeller. There is more way ball movement in the half court, not to mention the increased defensive intensity when the bench is in.

I consider Byron at least partially responsible for the complete lack of creativity when Kyrie's in the game.

Maybe because he gave up way more points on defense then he was scoring on offense. He made Luke Ridnour look good.

Dion played 21 min vs 37 min for Luke. And, he scored 13/21 in 4th when Dion wasn't even in the game.

Uhmm. Ridnour got off when Dion is out. So the point is?

Re: Rating Coach Scott

....I wish we had Rick Adelman. For my money, one of the best in the NBA.

Instead, we have Byron Scott, who I can say is pretty marginal, at absolute best.

I was calling for an Adelman coach signing when LeBron was still here. :(

Re: Rating Coach Scott

We didn't anyone ask Byron about Dion during his press conference

Fuck

Worthless media

Re: Rating Coach Scott

I like Scott but I don't believe he's suitable for a rebuilding team, this team has no idea how to play defense and that last shot he drew up makes no sense. Why give Kyrie the ball if he's struggled all night?

Re: Rating Coach Scott

Better question: Why put Kyrie back in the game at all?

Normally I would disagree but under the current circumstances I'm with you. With his very busy All Star Weekend coming up AND rolling his ankle the game before, I think you have to let him rest. Who knows, maybe if it wasn't so close and against the team with the best record in the league Byron would've chose differently.

Re: Rating Coach Scott

This second half of the season is like stepping into Oz. I've watched tons of post game interview with Coach Scott and he has always harped on the guys about giving a full effort night in and night out. Not only does he have this team playing with great effort but they are competing on a nightly basis. I have personally watched this team transform before my eyes and Coach Scott deserves all the credit in the world.

You may have had an opinion one way or the other before this second half but lately it's undeniable that this team is coming together and they are practicing what Scott has preached.

Count me as one of the people who are surprised by the team's turnaround, because listening to Coach Scott critique his team over the season, most of it boiled down to "Just try harder." The Cavs are doing a lot of things better, but I think that has more to do with the young guys figuring things out and adjusting to the league than any great coaching on the part of Scott.

Re: Rating Coach Scott

With the improvement of Dion, and considering Dions past responses in post game interviews after being benched, it has finally become clear that Scott has broken Waiters down and built him back up slowly. When everyone here was/is calling Scott out for benching Waiters, Waiters has responded by playing more efficiently. It's nothing less than impressive and that's exactly the kind of execution you want from a coach in developing a young core.
