On top of Steven Adams

Re: Of Steven Adams

And they got it from the poem "The Walrus and the Carpenter" by Lewis Carroll (of Alice in Wonderland).

But that's not important right now.

One of my all-time favorite poems! If Steven Adams is anywhere near as good as this poem, i'd be very surprised.

Re: Of Steven Adams

So basically...you'd rather have Steven Adams than Noel, Len, Bennett, McLemore and Porter...along with at least 8-9 other guys that will likely go ahead of him.

Yes.

Re: Of Steven Adams

How do you feel about the Zaza Pachulia comparison above, adam?

Re: Of Steven Adams

steve adams would be an epic reach, no thanks

if we plan on passing on nerlens and reaching on a big man, len is the clear choice

Re: Of Steven Adams

If you're talking about the way they look, I can see it. If you're talking about their games, I think it's a reach. Adams is MUCH more athletic than Pachulia. No, Adams isn't DeAndre Jordan, JaVale McGee or Nerlens Noel, but he isn't a lumbering clod, either. I've mentioned before that I think Adams is a young Omer Asik from day 1. With quality coaching and an organization that knows what it's doing, I think he's a better version of a HEALTHY Andrew Bogut within a couple years.

The ONLY reason I wouldn't draft Adams #1 is because it would put an awful lot of unfair pressure on him. I still think he's the best prospect in this draft, and that's what you should get when you have the #1 pick, but it would be seen as quite a reach and unfair to him.

Re: Of Steven Adams

Chad ford has him going to OKC, which would be a great fit for him, he can grow into althetic perkins2.0 and if he catches a ball and scores he will be seen as an upgrade from perkins1.0

Re: Of Steven Adams

I think the only bigs I'd take before Adams are Noel, and Len. I think noel's athleticism gives him the chance to be otherworldly. Adams and Len are physically superior and may always will be, but they'll never be the athlete noel is. Noel has the chance to have a Kevin Garnett or LeBron James like impact as his skill set matures. Len's knock wasn't his skill set, it was his body. He is up to 250 now, and looks much better. He's got everything going for him that lead to Enes Kanter being Selected high.

As basketball players I think Noel, and Len are ahead of Adams, and they are both still very young too. Adams will improve, but so will noel, and Len. Adams has the centurion frame that screams low post player, and is the most likely to be a power player, but it's still a dream.

Re: Of Steven Adams

All Upside, Skill, and Scouting aside. You do not draft a guy named Steven Adams, Even more so A white guy named Steven Adams. Stern and the NBA hates whiite or any Centers or Power Forwards In this game. I mean look at the Miami heat they do not even have a center and look where they are. So yeah lets not even go with a Center and Get a Porter and Bennet Combo somehow... Well? Nerlens Noel has the coolest name and he Is black who runs fast and... Ahhhh shucks you get the point.

Re: Of Steven Adams

How does Adams compare to Chris Kaman?

Re: Of Steven Adams

“This man is a bonafide scrub… the man cannot play the game of basketball. He has small hands, he can’t catch the ball; he’s got bad feet, he can’t really move, even though he’s mobile, he doesn’t really know what he’s doing; he doesn’t have a post move he puts to memory that he can do two times in a row; he has no game whatsoever; plays no defense; doesn’t have the heart, the passion or anything that comes with it.” :chuckles:

Re: Of Steven Adams

How would you rate Adams in the last few drafts among the centers adam? Among Kanter, Valanciunas, Biyombo, and Vucevic. Kanter is in the best shape, but Vucevic looks to be the best so far putting up 13 and 12. That guy really rebounds. I suppose if you add davis, and drummond to the mix vucevic could fall a bit. I think you have to take into account davis is 20, and drummond is 19, and Vucevic is 22. Where will drummond and Davis be at 22.
I'd probably go..

Anthony Davis
Drummond
Vucevic
Valanciunas
Adams
Kanter
Biyombo

I suppose I put Davis, and Drummond up top because they are the best athletes even though Vucevic has shown the most. I expect Drummond and Davis to have more potential going forward than Vucevic who lacks the athleticism and power to be great. I look at vucevic as more of a Z level almost all star. Davis and Drummond project to be shut down defenders, and Davis already has some offensive skills. Drummond just catches lobs, and offensive rebounds, but i suspect eventually he'll be more of a threat in the post with that frame and athleticism. Valanciunas can do a lot of the same stuff vucevic can, and may be next year he'll do it just as well and will cover more ground defensively as well. I put Adams below Valanciunas because V has that jump shot, and scores well around the basket. Adams will probably be a better defender out of the gate than valanciunas was, and he's a lot bigger coming into the nba than Valanciunas. I think Adams has above average athleticism, and has a steep learning curve which is why i put him with kanter as more of a developemental big. Drummond was raw, but he just used his otherworldy athleticism that could not be matched even in the nba. Adams isn't that athletic, and while big for a 19 year old is not oversized at center by nba standards. I expect him to be a 15-20 minute a night guy coming into the nba, but to grow into a back to the basket center, and eventually an all defensive teamer. I like Kanters back to the basket game, but not sure he has the defensive potential of adams.

Re: Of Steven Adams

I'm worried Adams isn't even going to fall out of the top 10 at this rate. :(

Re: Of Steven Adams

Dude seems like coolest, most chill guy in the draft. His mental process is hilariously humble, would love to grab him if we go McLemore #1. Still think we take Noel #1 despite reports.
