'14 RCF Mock Draft: RD 3 Detroit Lions (mofire)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

With the 36th pick, the Oakland raiders select Morgan Moses, OT Virginia

After losing Jared Veldheer in free agency, the Raiders need a left tackle to protect Matt Schaub and future QB Derek Carr. Moses still needs work on his technique, but he has the potential to be a great blocker in the future for the Raiders

the Falcons are now on the clock

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

Trading up for Bortles and Bradley "Burnt Toast" Roby good god I'd attempt to tackle a moving car if that's how it unfolded.

Who needs to wait? Just hop out there.

Can't wait for armchair GM's to be humbled, for another year.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

If Farmer moved up to 1 for Bortles, no one would be complaining....Roby was a top 10 pick going into last season, he could still be a pretty good CB in the NFL and I wouldn't complain if this was our actual 1st round. Good work RappSoda

Regardless of what Farmer does, half will complain. Even if the Browns won the Super Bowl, there'd be people belly-aching about the play calling, upcoming free agents being too expensive to re-sign, etc.

Either way, this mock is relatively unrealistic... I personally don't think either of the FS would last until 26 and if they did, the Browns wouldn't have overlooked them.

I stand by my move to #1. The Browns would do that, IMO.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

With the 37th pick in the draft, the Atlanta Falcons select...

Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington

GameAction_03.jpg

A foot injury knocked Seferian-Jenkins out of the Combine, and he won't be able to do much for scouts before the 2014 NFL Draft. That could send Seferian-Jenkins to the second round and make him a nice value pick. Some teams are said to be turned off by Seferian-Jenkins off the field and are downgrading him for character concerns.

Seferian-Jenkins had 36 receptions for 450 yards and eight scores in 2013. He played well against Stanford and UCLA, but did have a fumble against the Bruins. The Washington offense seemed to have put him on the back burner as it was led by Bishop Sankey, while Keith Price favored throwing to other receivers. Seferian-Jenkins showed some improvement as a blocker and was a contributor to Sankey's big season on the ground.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on the clock.

STRENGTHS - Highly productive, disruptive playmaker vs. the run and pass. Shoots gaps and plays behind the line of scrimmage (compiled 39.5 TFL the last two seasons). Agile to slip blocks. Quick, strong hands to shed. Knifes gaps and flows very well laterally. Striking tackler -- uncoils on contact. Excellent speed and range -- opens up his stride in space and really covers ground. Bends naturally. Changes direction and accelerates with ease. Explosive first step as a pass rusher -- shows the ability to dip, bend and run the arc low to the ground. Ample athleticism and flexibility to mark backs and tight ends. Four-down utility. Arrow is pointing up.

WEAKNESSES - Lacks ideal size and bulk. Still developing eyes and instincts -- will diagnose and trigger more quickly down the road. Gets caught in traffic or engulfed by larger blockers when he hesitates to step downhill. Prone to overaggressiveness -- occasionally overruns plays or loses cutback contain. Could stand to improve his eyes, awareness, anticipation and reactions as a zone defender. Took some time to acclimate before making an impact.

With the 39th pick, the Jacksonville Jaguars select:

Carlos Hyde, Ohio State University

5.-Carlos-Hyde.jpg

After starring at Naples High School in central Florida, Hyde spent the 2009 season at Fork Union Military Academy before enrolling at Ohio State in January 2010.
He played in seven games as a true freshman but didn't join the backfield rotation until 2011, when rushed for 566 yards and averaged 5.3 yards per carry while leading Buckeyes running backs with six touchdowns.

Hyde took over the primary backfield role in 2012, rushing for 970 yards and scoring 16 touchdowns in just 10 games - missing two due to an ankle injury.

With 1,527 yards as a senior despite missing the first three games due to suspension, Hyde became the first running back for an Urban Meyer-coached team to rush for 1,000 yards in a season.

"I go out every game with the mindset that I have to make up for those three games," Hyde said in October. "That suspension ... really hurt."

He rushed for at least 100 yards in each of the last eight games, including two 200-yard performances. Hyde scored 15 touchdowns on the ground and added three more while catching 16 passes on the season.

Hyde was a workhorse with 208 carries in 2013 and used his breakout senior season to get the attention of NFL scouts. He entered the season with a late-round draft grade, but ran angrier than ever and continued to move up boards with several highly productive performances.

Jacksonville feels great coming away with How Ya Doin Johnny and Carlos Hyde.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

Sorry, was at work...with that said

With the 40th pick of the draft, the Minnesota Vikings select:

joel-bitonio.jpg

Joel Bitonio OG/OT Nevada

Browns fans know what I am talking about when I say the Vikings have a great offensive line, save for the guards on the team. With Matt Kalil and Phil Loadholt locking down the tackle spots and John Sullivan at center on the offensive line, the guard play could use an upgrade. RG Brandon Fusco looks to be a promising player after performing quite well last season, but Charlie Johnson, Vlad Ducasse and the LG spot can use an upgrade. Bitonio, a tackle at Nevada, looks like a candidate to be kicked inside to guard in the NFL due to his size, but is more than capable athletically to play inside or out. A tenacious blocker who looks to bury his man into the turf, Bitonio will be a welcome addition for one Adrian Peterson, whoever the hell is the QB, and the rest of the offensive line.

I do like Bortles as a top QB prospect but, i agree with your comment about Roby. He is incredibly overrated as a top CB prospect. I am a huge OSU fan and cannot understand the intrigue with him or even Shazier.

Reverse bias.

If you can't see the allure with Shazier, with his size and closing speed, I'd argue you're being overly critical of him as a prospect.

Are we doing just 2 rounds?

BTW- Spectre you and the Bills are up. Tennessee is ready to go following Buffalo.

That is a fair assessment. I will have to go back and look at a lot of his tape. It seemed early on, maybe due to his size, that he struggled with injuries. My mind could be playing tricks on me but, ill take another look.

what are your thoughts on Roby?

me personally,

Shazier bulked up a bit to 237 or something. is he small? yes. but he is extremely quick and those are the kinds of guys NFL teams want today. I would not be surprised to see him go top 25.

Roby is a bit raw, but he has great potential - I see him as a first rounder, as well.

There are guys around the back 1-early 3 area I like way more (Kyle Fuller, Prince Gaines, Keith McGill, Baptiste from NEB). I think he's too similar to what Skrine brings to the table as far as a fit in Cleveland's defense.

He's got elite quicks though, good hips. I think he'll have a pretty decent career as a nickel/dime back and a monster gunner on special teams.

With the 41st pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select…

Troy+Niklas+Oklahoma+v+Notre+Dame+0V6CkVoac6el.jpg

Troy Niklas, TE, Notre Dame

After locking up LT in the 1st round, the Bills continue to make moves on the offensive side of the ball with the selection of high upside TE Troy Niklas. At 6’6” 270 lbs., Niklas possesses elite Gronkowski-esque size and has strength to match, having earned the nickname “Hercules” in college. Niklas is the best-blocking TE in the draft and Mike Mayock has gone as far to say that he might be the best blocking TE in the NFL in a few years. Not only does he utilize his size as a throwback blocker, as a receiver he is physically imposing with long arms, big hands and legitimate leaping ability making him a matchup nightmare in the red zone. While he is a raw prospect and will need to work on his route running ability to be a consistent factor in the passing game, his size, strength and athleticism give him as much upside as any TE in the draft. In the meantime, the Bills are more than comfortable with Bruce Matthews’ nephew as a blocker and red zone threat until the rest of his game develops.

The Tennessee Titans are now on the clock.
