Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

With the 42nd pick in the 2014 draft, the Tennessee Titans select...

Dee Ford, DE Auburn

Tennessee needs to get after the QB, it's one of their biggest needs. They have Kamerion Wimbley who is going into his 10th season on one side and the solid but unspectacular Derrick Morgan on the other side. With new defensive coordinator Ray Horton, they will move from a 4-3 defense to an attacking hybrid 3-4 which means they need outside linebackers who go after the QB. Dee Ford played with his hand in the dirt at Auburn but because of his lack of size and above average speed, he projects better as a 3-4 OLB than a DE. Ford made waves prior to the combine saying Jadaveon Clowney was overrated and that Ford not Clowney was the best edge rusher in the draft. Well Tennessee will give this high motor, highly productive player his chance to prove just that.

The New York Giants and PlaixcoFan are now on the clock.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

With the 43rd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the New York Giants select Timmy Jernigan, DT, Florida State

th

For the second year in a row the Giants attack the trenches. With their first pick they took Jake Matthews to shore up the exterior offensive line. Now they take Timmy Jernigan to shore up the defensive line woes from last season. The Giants struggled to get to the QB last year and exposed the weak secondary of the team, causing them to go all-out at CB and S in free agency. They still need to address up front, however, and with the loss of their best defensive tackle, Linval Joseph, the need becomes a glaring one. This pick gives the Giants a solid DT rotation of Cullen Jenkins, Johnathan Hankins, Mike Patterson, and now Timmy Jernigan. The improved DT core will also help the DEs in Jason Pierre-Paul, Damontre Moore, and Robert Ayers.

Be Nimble and the St. Louis Rams are now OTC. I will not PM him this time because I don't want him telling me he likes "baloney sandwiches" again. lol

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

Happy Monday everyone. It's time. All teams are spoken for and we're ready to get moving. Remember, trades are encouraged through PM! Happy Drafting!

CosmoKramer and the Houston Texans are ON THE CLOCK

In the case the Browns trade to 1 and still pick Bortles...

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

Shazier steal of the draft. I would consider him in the top 10. Mark my words. My talent evaluation is supreme.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

With the 44th pick, the St. Louis Rams select Bobby Boucher, Bitch Kitty, University of Louisiana

waterboy.jpg

Boucher is absolutely unblockable on the field and a force of nature on passing downs. An absolute gamechanger who is capable of sacking the quarterback, forcing a fumble, and taking it to the house on every play. He lives in the backfield, with an astounding 100% of his tackles coming from behind the line of scrimmage. Boucher figures to slip in the draft due to his record low score of 0 on the Wonderlic test, leading teams to question if he can have a role outside of literally killing the ball carrier. Teams will also be weary of his locker room presence, as his social ineptitude and personality could become a major distraction and take a team's attention away from football.

sorry had do that

seriously, though

With the 44th pick, the St. Louis Rams select Jordan Matthews, WR Vanderbilt

Jordan+Matthews+Mississippi+v+Vanderbilt+gjNKOGmyb6ll.jpg

A relative of Jerry Rice, Matthews departs Vanderbilt as the most productive pass catcher in SEC history. He’s a tall, narrow-framed, West Coast possession receiver with soft hands, a professional approach and the versatility to line up inside or outside and become a solid No. 2 or No. 3

The Rams young defense has been very solid and will continue to improve. Their 30th ranked offense in 2014 is what's costing them games. With the addition of Matthews to a beefed up offensive line, the explosive Tavon Austin and Jared Cook, and newly acquired Kenny Britt, Sam Bradford should have some nice toys to play with. Being a relative of Jerry Rice, Matthews is also an exceptional student of the game, as proven by him requesting game tape of opposing cornerbacks in the North-South All-Star game. Matthews figures to be a very dependable target for Bradford.

Strengths: Good length. Big zone target. Good form as a route runner. Sinks his hips and pops out of breaks. Concentrates, tracks and adjusts. Soft hands and sticky fingers. Has leaping ability to compete in the air. Opens up his stride in the clear and shows nice long speed. Good field awareness. Gives effort as a blocker. Competes and plays with intensity. Tough and intelligent. Lined up outside and inside and has punt-return experience. Team captain and four-year starter with record-setting production.

STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES

STRENGTHS: Fluid and flexible athlete for his larger frame with room to get stronger. Deceiving acceleration with sharp cuts to be a dangerous catch-and-go pass catcher. Physical ballcarrier with balance and body strength to shake off defenders and pick up chunks of yards after contact.
Does a nice job working back to the ball and finding soft spots in zones. Works well in traffic and tight areas to fight for the ball and win jump-ball situations. Uses his hands to fight through the jam and create room to work. Tough and won't shy from contact. Large catching radius with a good vertical to attack the ball. Willing blocker in run support.

Extremely productive the past two seasons, setting several single-season school and Big Ten records and finishing with a conference-best 97 catches and 1,432 yards in 2013.

WEAKNESSES: Average vertical speed. Upright route-runner and needs to tighten his footwork in/out of his breaks - will tip off defenders to his intended path and needs to better sell and deceive his patterns. Plays rushed at times and needs to stay under control through the snap, catch and whistle.

Focus will run hot/cold at times and needs to be more reliable finishing with his hands - bad habit of making unnecessary body catches. Room to improve his field and spatial awareness along the sideline. Maturity needs to be investigated after a first half suspension in the 2013 season opener for "disciplinary issues."

COMPARES TO: Anquan Boldin, San Francisco 49ers - Robinson doesn't have elite speed, but like Boldin he is a good-sized athlete with deceiving acceleration and strength at the catch point to be both a possession target and big play-threat.

The Stoolers are on the clock.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

When RichRob eventually doesn't show up, the Pittsburgh Steelers select, DE DeMarcus Lawrence, Boise State.

Steelers lost Hood, and although Cameron Heyward has come along nicely, Brett Keisel needs a replacement. Steelers actually look stronger on the offensive side of the ball for the first time in decades, and that means a youth movement on the defense is underway. Timmons, Jarvis Jones, Vince Williams, Shamarko Thomas, Cam Heyward, Troy Polamalu, and Ike Taylor look confirmed to play big roles this season, but that defense needs rounding out. First, who's going to play nose tackle? The Steelers had Woods and McLendon there at many times this past season, but maybe they believe Cam Thomas from San Diego is going to be a nice pickup to plug in there. I am not a fan of Mike Mitchell, the pickup from Oakland/Carolina. He was disliked everywhere he's been, and is constantly burnt. Look for the Steelers to correct the secondary depth later on.

The Steelers also were looking for receivers. Seeing as Watkins, Evans, Lee, Cooks, Robinson, Beckham, Matthews, and Benjamin were all gone, I could also see the Steelers taking Donte Moncrief from Ole Miss here. However, they just signed Lance Moore and Darius Heyward-Bey to provide depth for an eventual #2 receiver. Look for the Steelers to also address their receiving core.

RichRob has lost his ownership of the Stoolers. Warddj86, you're exclusively drafting/making decisions for this team.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

With the 47th pick of the draft, the Minnesota Vikings select:

1260222.jpg

Keith McGill CB Utah

A big, long, athletic corner, McGill has seen his draft stock rise ever since the Senior Bowl when he proved he can stay at corner at the next level. A press man corner, McGill would slide right into the Vikings defensive backfield, and Mike Zimmer's press scheme, opposite of Xavier Rhodes, giving the team two tall and long outside corners while newly acquired Captain Munnerlyn can man the slot (with Jeffery, Marshall, Nelson, and Calvin Johnson in division, big corners are a must). Add in Harrison Smith and the Vikings defensive backfield is starting to take shape with a lot of young and talented players.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

The Vikings are looking to trade back up into the 2nd....have 2 3rds (72 and 96) if anyone is interested.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

That's a good pick for the Vikings. I considered him as well.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

Skins are Cyrus Kouandjio, OT

My phone is dying. Will post more later

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

Pittsburgh isn't playing Lawrence at 3-4 DE, are they? Dude is kinda small to play 4-3 DE as it is, and from what I read in the pick description, he wants to put him at 3-4 DE?
