Pretty sure Tyrion was in jail when he learned of Jamie's hand being gone.

In the books, yes I think you're right. In the show, no. Anyway it doesn't have to be Tyrion, you're telling me not a single person thought to make sword that attaches to his stump instead of the golden hand? Just something that bugged me.

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

That sounds unnatural as fuck and very hard to learn with, harder than learning with your left hand. JMO. :chuckles:

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

Yeah I am with Chris. You'd lose all the nuances of being able to turn your hand to parry and it just seems like it would be much more difficult to learn than just learning with the other hand (which show Jaime looks much more competent at than book Jaime, by the way). Plus, what happens if the straps come undone in the middle of a fight? He could put someone's eye out!

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

The whole point is LF might be the most dangerous dude at the end of the day. He basically orchestrated all of the events that have happened as a power play, a way to weaken the Seven Kingdoms and descend them into chaos so that he could have his chance. Would not be surprised to see him sit the Throne at some point. After all, that's his goal, isn't it? Only thing is he could have never foreseen Bran catching Cersei and Jaime in the tower, and the assassin going after Bran ... so did he just get lucky on those counts?

Yeah, he just got very lucky with Bran falling, the assassin, etc.. Still, the whole point was to get Ned Stark in KL to discover the bastardy issue, and that probably would have happened no matter what happened in Winterfell.

My point was that it seems LF is somewhat playing for scraps given the real big-picture events happening at the Wall and in Essos. Don't get me wrong -- what's happening in KL is still interesting as hell. But I just can't see LF, even in his wildest dreams, being the guy who rallies Westeros against Danaerys, or leads armies north to fight the others, etc.. And no matter what else is happening in KL, Tywin is still there, and I don't think LF is delusional enough to think he can somehow defeat Tywin. Particularly now that he is no longer in KL himself at all.

Obviously, Tywin getting offed this season changes that. But LF had nothing to do with that, so Tywin as a major obstacle is still something he believes he must overcome. And, given all the stuff that happens in AFFC and ADWD, it doesn't seem that LF's chances of sitting the Iron Throne are significant.

Now, if his ultimate goal is just to marry Sansa and be Lord of the Vale, well, that's plausible. But that seems like small potatoes at this point.

What. The. Fuck. I swear I see the most spoilers dropped by GoT readers than any other series. Uuuuh

I've heard that if you read the books you can't be spoiled. :chuckles:

Well, at least not until the show passes Martin's lazy ass.

I think he was referring to Q-Tip's failure to properly use spoiler tags, not to my innocuous Stoneheart comment that would only be a spoiler if you stupidly googled Lady Stoneheart even though we talked about it being a potential spoiler afterward.

And if that's the case, well, you deserve to be spoiled.

Ah, fuck. Send me to Ilyn Payne so my shame can end.

Nope that was a spoiler too.

I feel your pain. I accidentally spoiled my show watching friends the other day. I was talking about how in the books all the Starks have some sort of connection to their Direwolves and they asked how far they could be away from them while still having that connection and I blurted out
Well Arya can feel Nymera from across the Narrow Sea so pretty damn far
I felt so terrible. :thumbdown

Meh, that's a weak spoiler. Not hard to see that is where that plot point is going.

Tywin dying though, :chuckles: LOL. Epic spoiler.
