2014 NFL Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Define "actual experts."

I don't put "people who talk on TV for a living" in that category, as much as some would like to.

It boggles my mind how much stock people put into mock draft experts. Their job is to garner ratings, not analyze player talent. There is a reason Manziel was in the top 5 of a lot of mock drafts (ratings). There is also a reason that everyone is now warning that he may plummet out of the first round (he isn't that talented).

Basically I'll be upset if we go OT or Johnny at 4. I'm pretty much cool with any other scenario (realistic ones).

Well, other than you of course, I'm talking about professional scouts and talent evaluators working for teams.

What's amazing to me is that while even those guys have some humility and know they'll get some wrong, there are some fans who won't even acknowledge that about their own opinions.

I just ran the analytics on the movie "The Bodyguard". It grossed 122 million dollars, which was 7th best in all of 1992.

Whitney and Costner are rising on the big board leading up to the draft tonight!

Ehh. Didn't make me cry, and Whitney done died. No bueno.

Q: What paid scout/talent evaluator reveals team based evaluations before the draft?

A: A soon too be unemployed one.

Anything you ear from these guys is off the cuff information and in no way reflects how their team will draft or team big boards. Do they give first impressions? Maybe. Do the give out smokescreens? Maybe. Do they give out talent evaluations? Absolutely not.

Well b00bie was drastically wrong about Weeden's arm strength. I mean granted he was right about the other stuff.

Anyway, I don't think we have access to any actual experts. An lot of the casual fans on this board are just as competent as the Kipers and McShays of he world. The only actual experts out there aren't in the media in my opinion. That would be the GMs and scouts, guys who won't be sharing their opinions until after the draft.

Honestly Glazer is the guy I trust the most and he mostly just has sources and isn't so much about the evaluations. Mayock is better than Kiper and McShay and he kinda sucks too.

I'm not sure the credible ones on here would fall into that category, myself included.

I was not planning on forming an opinion on who we should draft until later this weekend.
