2014 Off-Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm liking these signings, guys that are probably better than Greg Little (Ugh Devone Bess had arguably better numbers than this dude) and probably better than any of the round 3+ guys we could have scooped up late in the draft.

I was truly concerned that we were going into the season with Little as our number 1 and a bunch of slot recievers

Charles Johnson is a small school guy drafted by the Packers a few years ago. He's 6'2"/215, ran sub 4.4 40s. He supposedly has good hands. The Packers had him tucked away on the practice squad. We signed him to our active roster last year and he reportedly failed to give GB a chance to match the offer. When he came in, we found out he had a torn ACL. He's physically gifted and the Packers are good at developing receivers, but I don't think anyone knows for sure if he's ready to step up.

If this dude is actually good (a lot of us thought Carlton Mitchell was going to be a stud), and Gordon can get his shit straight. Would that be a lethal duo or what?

I, personally, think Gordon + Cameron + Hawkins (if he is healthy) is lethal as it is. Then throw in a good set of backs and... of course, if he pans out...

Basically, add Gordon to anything right now and you've got a potentially lethal offense.

I was about to say, so, is this guy the new Carlton Mitchell?

I wouldnt be surprised if Greg Little loses his roster spot actually. Thats some serious competition they just brought in, and those guys can catch the ball. Chud, come fight me.

Had Gordon stayed not-stupid, I think so. Not sure now with him out, though.

Honestly, even if Austin isn't what he once was, our WR group is still overall better than it was last year because production can be spread out. I think there are 4 to 5 guys I would trust catching the ball consistently if thrown to them. Bennett and Nate were both among the tops in catches per target, and Austin has some really, really good hands. Hawkins has a good set of hands too, although sometimes he runs before he gets the ball.

Overall, that's better than Josh Gordon and shit. I can definitely see the "Seattle" model that the Browns are going after here. These guys won't take the lid off a defense, but they will catch it if they are open. And it's sad to say, that's a massive upgrade over what we've had in the past.

Austin and Bennett make this WR core respectable at the least.. Which is something we weren't 24 hours ago.. Playoffs?!?

This Charles Johnson talk is a joke. Reminds me of a guy we had just a couple years ago in Carlton Mitchell. There's a reason he went undrafted, temper your hopes/expectations.
