2014 Off-Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
In all seriousness, Johnson would be a perfect fit for our situations with Gordon, Johnny, etc. I just don't know that a) the Texans would trade him or b) that he'd want to come here. He's going to turn 33 before the season starts. I think part of the reason he wants out is that the Texans haven't done a thing to fix QB in the present and he doesn't need to be part of a rebuilding. He wants a stable winner (which we haven't been lately). It would take a pretty good sales job from Farmer/Pettine/Shanahan and Co. to get him to agree to come here.

The problem is that I don't think there are any stable winners that still have the cap space needed to absorb that contract.

New England will trade a 6th for him and get him to restructure his contract.

interesting if true.

Decent run blocker with good hands, pretty unremarkable other than that.

Calvin Johnson: I mean yeah. I'm pretty sure I would give up just about anything they asked for. Can't imagine them willing to let him go though.

Andre Johnson: Despite his age and poor Qb play, he still averaged 1500yds the last 2 two years. The Salary Cap is still nowhere near a problem for us, and if it didn't work out, we just cut him. The Texans would have to eat some dead cap space but they would still come out 3m ahead on the cap. We would just be paying him 10m in game checks and maybe a mil a yr in roster bonuses.

It's insane to think Andre Johnson would even want to come here. We've been to the playoffs once in 14 years, he's been there 3 times and he's dissatisfied. Why is this even a conversation?

They haven't had this much moxie and swagger in 14 years.

Because we'd be trading for him, and thus he wouldn't have a choice.

Well he'll help the WR group.

Good. That helps that out.

So Jordan Cameron, Miles Austin, Greg Little, Andrew Hawkins, Travis Benjamin. With Johnson and the UDFA in the mix.

Not at all sexy... at all. But if/when Josh Gordon comes back, that is a pretty solid ass group.

Well, now we won't be totally worthless at passing while Gordon is out.

Hope you're all not expecting the Miles Austin of like 2009, but this will most likely affect the passing offense very little.

It's a move that had to be made, I'm hopeful Charles Johnson can emerge and beat him out.
