2014 Off-Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hope you're all not expecting the Miles Austin of like 2009, but this will most likely affect the passing offense very little.

It's a move that had to be made, I'm hopeful Charles Johnson can emerge and beat him out.

Agree 100%. I am most hopeful for Charles Johnson to really become the one to fill a small portion of the void left by Gordon. Like I said, though, Austin will still help. Just gives a nice set of veteran hands... as long as he stays healthy.

A consistent Miles Austin paired with Gordon + Cameron + Hawkins and then a mix of Johnson and/or Little could prove to be an excellent offense for Johnny to work with. Just holding out hope we see that first guy sometime sooner, rather than later...

Austin was awesome in '09, respectable in '10 and '12, injured in '11 and '13.

If he plays well he's in the 50-60 reception, 700-1000 yds, 5-6 TD range. That's probably the most of what he'll give you at this stage. Solid numbers but he's no Josh Gordon.

Wide receiver will be an interesting battle in camp, there are a ton of guys on the roster.

Miles Austin
Earl Bennett
Nate Burleson
Andrew Hawkins
Greg Little
Charles Johnson
Josh Gordon - Suspended

Outside looking in:
Travis Benjamin - Injured (likely PUP)
Josh Cooper
Tori Gurley
Chandler Jones
Kenny Shaw
Jonathan Krause

Its never a bad thing to have veteran options...

Think he's better than Santonio

Been fighting injuries the last few years though.

Meh... I do like having a lot of guys in camp, though. Gives them a better chance to have a WR that wants to play on the team, rather than a paycheck collector..

Did anyone else double take when seeing Miles Austin is only 29?

He'll turn 30 this year but man, that guy has been absolutely banged up given he's still relatively young for a receiver.

Best case, he stays healthy for 8 games and Gordon is back in week 9.

If nothing else, he'll be a god locker room guy.

Decent to good at best. I wouldn't call his presence in the locker room godly by any means.

This is a solid signing for a stop-gap #1 if the likely outcome with Gordon is a suspension of 6-16 games. When (if?) Gordon comes back, this pushes Little down the depth chart and gives us a more sure-handed #2.

Anyone know about his blocking? It's going to be important.

Who the fuck is Charles Johnson?

Haha I'm actually stunned you don't know who he is. You're part of the regulars on this board. We had a big thread on him.

But yeah, the article b00bie linked is good. He has potential to be a monster.
