The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

No one went out of their way to spoil anything for you. No one texted you a spoiler that you couldn't avoid or shouted it at you on the street. You specifically clicked the "Official Game of Thrones Thread." You know there are book readers in here and you know they discuss things that might be spoilers. So why click the thread? And if you're answer is "because I want a place to discuss the show" then go make the show only thread and stop bitching.

This is fine, but when someone lays out what they think will happen, I don't want nor do I expect some fanboy to "no no, that's not what happens. In fact..." my post. It's obnoxious, no matter how you feel or what you say.

Maybe they are using Reverse Psychology!!!

So we're still going to discuss the show in here, right?

Yep. Of course. Probably just BMAN that took his talents elsewhere.

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

Well I mean, since we have a thread JUST for the show, if we discuss future events in here, we don't have to spoiler it anymore?

For instance...

We should probably get a mod to put BOOK SPOILERS in the title, but after that...yes, we should be good to talk about whatever the fuck we want.

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

I've truly never seen this before. So fascinating.

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

HOW ABOUT NO. Honestly I have never seen a more douchier book series fan base.

I read these books when they first came out, and I seriously could not agree more. Not picking on the readers in this thread, but more generally. Especially a lot of the douches at Westeros.

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

This thread went into total meltdown mode. Come on people. Get your shit together. Spoiler tag spoilers. Don't be a douche bags. Just normal rules of society really.

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

Oh, shit. Some in the media are picking up on the thought that Sansa Stark really is the hero for whom we should all be rooting. And this chowderhead is presumptive enough to assume most viewers already do.

Sansa Stark is one of only a handful characters on Game Of Thrones that fans find themselves actively rooting for. [when you say "fans", I assume you're limiting that to your bitchy little circle of morons]After starting the series as a lovely young girl who had big dreams of finding a handsome prince to marry, she has evolved into a jaded young woman who is all too familiar with the horrors of real life, and those horrors just won’t seem to stop coming....

No, she started the series as a stupid, spoiled, self-centered little twit. She has now evolved into a stupid, spoiled, self-centered, slightly older twit. Great.

This article is only slightly better in that she at least as the intelligence to recognize that Sansa is generally one of the most disliked characters in the books, but completely misses the mark as to why she is hated as a character:

"There are a lot of truly evil people on Game of Thrones, yet the show's most hated character isn't the sadistic Joffrey or flay-happy Ramsay. It's Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), whose biggest offense seems to be that she's a teenage girl — and a girly one at that.

The polar opposite to her sister Arya, Sansa embodies everything a young Westerosi noblewoman should be. She loves lemon cakes, fairy tales and honestly believes in happily ever after (or at least she used to). But when people celebrate Game of Thrones for its depiction of empowering female characters, they typically point to Daenerys, Arya, Brienne and Cersei, all of whom actively fight against traditional ideals of womanhood and exhibit characteristics that are often associated with men. But where's the praise of Sansa's strength? No, she doesn't rely on dragons, a sword or aggression to get her way. She's polite, kind and a feminine, but none of those things make her weak.

"This is what frustrates me," Sophie Turner tells TVGuide.com. "People don't like Sansa because she is feminine.

Thanks, Sophie, for confirming that you are as dumb as the character you portray. Perfect casting, admittedly.

Sansa is disliked as a character because of the stupid things she has done, her immaturity, and her self-centeredness, not because she is feminine. Margaery Tyrell is just as feminine as Sansa Stark, yet not nearly as despised. And that's because she's not a self-centered moron.

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

People are usually a little harsh towards Sansa imo. I mean her biggest mistake is telling the queen that Ned was planning on leaving. At the time she had no sense of what the game of thrones was. She was (self admittedly) a naive stupid little girl. She feels responsible for her father's death. But, honestly, Ned was gonna get himself killed somehow eventually. Dude was as dumb as a rock when it came to the political games of king's landing. She was being a preteen girl who got manipulated by others.

To say she is still a spoiled stupid twit after feast I think isn't giving her enough credit. Its kind of ignoring her entire story arc which was being cast as bastard, like her half brother Jon snow. I loved the parts where she starts identifying with him more In her mind and realizing how she treated him. If that isn't a sign of maturation then I'm not sure what is. Yeah, compared to the rest of westeros she may be considered spoiled, but she was essentially a prisoner for like a year and a half and was tormented by Joffrey during that time.

Sorry if the format is all messed up, I'm in the car on my phone on the way to cedar point. Oh and those aren't spoilers because they are already there in the show but decided to cast her as his niece instead. Edit: if you haven't read feast then I can understand, for show watchers.

Easy there, champ.

Also, I'm having a difficult time finding any reason as to why anyone would root against Sansa? She was a dumb naive girl for certain, but what do you expect? Isn't she suppose to be like 14?
