The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

I hope they completely rewrite it so
he wins since the result is meaningless due to future events
.

Sometimes I question if you've ever actually read the books.

Also, your spoiler tag's in the wrong place.

No way does that happen. Regardless of future importance,
Oberyn's death is one of the most gut-wrenching moments in the entire series. You just can't change that.

Also, I think you spoilered the wrong part of your post, so I fixed it above. :chuckles:

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

I hate it when you get down to the nudity rider game. She's clearly exerting whatever power she has in order to not give up the goods anymore. Bummer.

/facepalm

I don't care either way, just trying to help people out.

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

You know, while we're on this subject, I've always wondered why
Tyrion's trial by combat wasn't ultimately considered a mistrial. After all, the Mountain "dies" eventually too, and even right after the fight the maester's acknowledge that saving him is essentially a lost cause, and that the only thing they can do is prolong his suffering (which was a very ironic way for the Mountain to die, given all the suffering he caused over the years).

If both competitors effectively are killed as the result of a trial by combat, doesn't that mean there is no winner? Or is the rule that the first person to die is inherently the loser? I need answers, dammit!

So you're back, and that post still stays spoilery...

Always wondered this as well.

Tyrion got robbed! Oberyn technically won the fight...unless it really is that the first one to die wins, which is probably the case. Clegane was only mortally wounded. Sigh. Depressing.

I'm hiring Jack to be my spoiler defense lawyer. He does it all the time and gets away with it. :)

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

I think that the story telling dictated that Dany not get naked in that scene. She has to look powerful. Last time he broke in and saw her naked, she was at the disadvantage. It was implied that he could have killed her if he wished. This time he was at the disadvantage=naked.

It would have looked like her bowing to his wishes the other way.

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

Her making him strip was also taken directly from the books.

People thought Emilia was the rumored actress who refused to do nude scenes during season two, and then she did the bath scene in season three. I don't think it's her. I've read rumors that it was Natalie Dormer. She was pretty pointlessly naked all the time in season two and hasn't done a nude scene since.

It's clearly not Carice van Houten, though, and I think we can all be thankful for that. :chuckles:
