Oh sweet, another "I read the books so allow me to explain this to you" post. Look, even if it is telling me i'm an idiot for thinking a certain way, try not to spoil stuff. I'd appreciate it.

Just letting you know that sometimes a loaf of bread is just a loaf of bread. :chuckles:

And besides, it was an obvious call back to season three when Hot Pie gave her the bread as she left, only this time around the bread looked much more like a wolf. I can't imagine Hot Pie would be intelligent enough to actually put something into a loaf of bread to give to Arya, especially when he clearly wasn't smart enough to realize that that loaf of bread would probably go bad far before Brienne actually found Arya.

Anyways, without spoiling, does Oberyn come off as such a badass in the books? I heard a great reference to him - House Martell seems like House Stark, only a more fun remix.

I actually think he came off as more badass in the books. They've cut out a few of his conversations, or conversations about him, that discuss his past and his familiarity with poison. As an example, Tyrion recalls a duel that Oberyn engaged in when he was young. It wasn't a fight to the death, just a fight to the first cut. Both men cut each other during the fight. Oberyn healed, but the other man died shortly after, as his wound festered.

They speak of him like he's the most dangerous man in Dorne, and mention that it was almost an act of war to send him to King's Landing in place of Doran Martell (his older brother and the ruler of Dorne). Oberyn has a history with the Tyrells as well. In the books, Loras Tyrell is the youngest of three sons (rather than the only child as in the books), and Mace Tyrell hates him because, during a joust many years back, he unhorsed Mace's oldest son, Garlan. The horse landed on Garlan's legs and crippled him. Garlan and Oberyn do not hold a grudge against each other, and in fact exchange letters, but the Tyrell elders never got over it and insinuate that Oberyn did it on purpose.

I don't think it starts until Dance after she has taken Meereen, but I could be remembering it wrong.

Regardless, Dany is firmly in Dance territory right now anyway.

Kind of proves it must have been Emilia Clark who didn't want more nude scenes. This show never turns down a chance to show sex or at least nudity, and then we finally get Daario and Dany and he's the only one who gets nekkid?

They made up for lack of Dany nudity by having an awkwardly long nude scene with Melisandre and Selyse I guess.
