Re: The Lebron Safari 2014

Don't even mention LA with Melo and LBJ, because it ain't happening. They would need to waive Nash, and even then LBJ and Melo would only be able to take like 14-15 million per year...

LA is far more unlikely then Miami, but both have the ability to pay two max or near-max contracts.

Re: The Lebron Safari 2014

LOL @ Melo to the Heat.

After all of the positioning, re-working, renouncing, yada yada yada the Heat would have to break their necks to accomplish - it would then come down to an even more improbable factor: Melo would need to leave between 30-40 million on the table so that LeBron could make more money than him and Wade could get paid well above his true market value.

It just isn't going to happen. This is the purest form of media speculation I've seen this FA period.

THIS!

Strictly Business: If LeBron does in fact return to the Cavaliers, what does this mean for him as a brand / business? Does it help his image / Q Rating / respect? Not just Cleveland & NE Ohio, but nationally?

His image will skyrocket and so will his wealth.

Re: The Lebron Safari 2014

Well we're fucked, another picture surfaced of Pat Riley making his pitch to Lebron. This time he's doing it at Lebron's new pizza place.

But it depends mostly on whether James ultimately returns, and that will depend at least in part on Riley's meeting with him in Las Vegas, where James is hosting a skills camp. As role players, they can help relieve some of his burden. As replacements, they can't come close, and it will raise questions about whether Miami allocated too much of its cash stash to those of their ilk.

One thing to be sure about:

If Riley gets a commitment from James, the Heat's confirmation—and celebratory statement—will come quickly.

Why is Shaq always there? :chuckles:

To throw in 150 lbs of Gold Bond powder for free to sweeten the deal duh! We can't compete with that, all we've got is free Earl Clark Fat Heads to give LeBron .....

It would be a huge plus for him. If he could lead the Cavaliers to a title and break the 50+ year drought, it would be enormous. Americans love an underdog story and they love a story of redemption. It would offer both. Who would choose Cleveland over New York, Miami, Chicago, LA? It's the underdog, the ugly duckling. And returning four years later, growing as a man and a player, bringing a title to the North Shore. That would all be looked at positively.

Immediately, the redemption angle will be appealing. It will probably mean the Cavs will get the max amount of national games a NBA team can get and those games will pique interest. It will also mean a lot of media will descend on Cleveland as soon as an announcement is made. This attention could help Cleveland push its case for the RNC in 2016 - something that would benefit the city enormously financially (it did down here in Tampa). All the attention given to Cleveland could cause more people to look at the city afresh and see what it offers, causing many to be surprised at the culture, cuisine, arts, parks, etc that are there - and coinciding with the ThisisCLE push online. So there could be an uptick in tourism - and tourism has been going up the past several years.

The redemption angle and the national focus on Cleveland would benefit both LeBron and NE Ohio.

Re: The Lebron Safari 2014

sorry guys, didn't mean to cause a problem. Should have thought about it for a minute before I shared, was just caught up in the excitement. My apologies to the other forum and members, as well as the insiders.

Have you seen the body Shaq is sporting these days? That's why he's there. All you've got to do is put a paper bag over his head and you're good to go.

Re: The Lebron Safari 2014

Shaq is coming back to join Lebron and Melo in Miami to form the big 5.

Re: The Lebron Safari 2014

I really think the Cavs will announce some sort of Jack trade in the next few hours.

In my opinion, this trade should be made before any LeBron announcement so we don't lose even more leverage in negotiations. It feels like we're all waiting for the next move... and perhaps this cap space clearing trade is next. And soon.
