Are they just going to change the team name to derek rose and the other guys??

Sorry if this got mentioned, but Windy had something very interesting to say on the Really Big Show

Dion has been watching film of Wade this summer to learn how to play off the ball with Lebron, and...

Kyrie is watching game film of Delly to learn how to be a ball hawking defender.

That was pretty great hear, especially since you can start seeing it take shape with Team USA

Both positive moves and says a lot about the players. It often takes guys 3-4 years in the league before they fully grasp the commitment that is required in all facets of the game, not just the 48 minutes on the court. That's why I don't pay to much attention to comments about Irvings, TT's, and Dions defense. All three can become better at defense than their current reputation just by further maturity and understanding all their responsibilities as a player and teammate in the NBA. This is hard for young players to fully grasp in the early years, especially on super young teams that lack high end talented veteran leadership, as we have for the past 3-4 years.

I especially like that Kyrie is willing to study the habits of a player like Delly, who is not a star and not a vet, rather than thinking a player of his caliber should only study other players who were stars. It's a smart move that recognizes if he(Kyrie) combines his excellent frame and athleticism with even half of Delly's tenacity and total commitment to disruption on defense, that he can be a markedly better defender very quickly. That said, Kyrie is welcome to and should be encouraged to dig into the old Gary Payton VHS collection as well.

Since Kyrie doesnt have to commit his entire energy on offense, we can finally see what he has to offer on the defensive end.

Watching Delly would explain some of his Team USA defensive effort, now if he could be a bit more in control (gamble less) that'd be an excellent disruptive style to take.

If it's about technique, than yeah watching tapes of Delly could help.if it's simply about effort, than it's just a matter being willing to what Kyrie has seen in practice and games for the past year, no tapes necessary.

I agree. I love his enthusiasm and effort, but he needs to find a balance. Obviously it's the early stages of "Kyrie Irving - The Defender," but you can see that he's going to get caught out a lot missing steals, running back to foul, being a little too eager and a little too aggressive etc.

If he can find himself picking and choosing his moments a little better on defense, we could see an unexpected leap in defensive development with him this season.

Btw I just listened to the windy interview and he said Kyrie SHOULD be watching tapes of delly like dion is of wade. Kyrie is not watching any tapes, it was windhorst's opinion

Yeah, that's what I thought he said too. He'd do well to be adopting a Delly style defensive effort though. Gotta start somewhere.

Kyries playing. Can't watch it (again) how's he playing?
