So right now kyrie deserves to start.

Sounds like he will....

Toronto's DeMar DeRozan and Detroit's Andre Drummond, widely regarded as prime candidates to be left home at the start of the week, claimed the last two roster spots alongside starters Kyrie Irving (Cleveland), Stephen Curry (Golden State), James Harden (Houston), Kenneth Faried(Denver) and Anthony Davis (New Orleans) and reserves Derrick Rose (Chicago), DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento), Klay Thompson (Golden State), Rudy Gay (Sacramento) and Mason Plumlee (Brooklyn).

I said form the beginning that I could see him starting ahead of d rose.

He's been better in every game that they've played for team usa. Anyone with common sense and eyes could see this.

Not to say Kyrie doesn't deserve it (he does), but I think even if Rose was the better player he'd still come off the bench because they are going to really watch and limit his minutes, maybe even sit him out a game of two. Don't wanna break chemistry and continuity by having one of your starters only playing sometimes.

I think the plan was to start Kyrie all along. They just started Rose in Chicago for the home crowd.

Good point.

I wish kd and Paul George where still available.

Kyrie curry george kd Davis would of been extremely fun to watch.

As long as they manage his minutes and he doesn't incur an injury, I don't really mind how they play him. Would I like to see him tear it up out there? Sure. It'd probably be great for his development. But either way, some bench warning could be good for him from a mental standpoint.

From Chris Sheridan:

Here are the totals for the two starting point candidates, including stats from the intrasquad scrimmage in Las Vegas:

Irving: 83 minutes; 45 points, 14-for-22 shooting (3-for-4 on 3s), 19 assists, 2 turnovers.
Rose: 52 minutes; 21 points, 7-for-12 shooting (1-for-3 on 3s), 7 assists, 7 turnovers.

One is a PG

ROSE IS A short SG

But don't show these stats to the bulls homers

I always thought Rose was really overrated. He's lucky to be on the team. I still think its crap Lilliard didn't make it, in favor for a guy that's not played in 2 years.

The article's title seems to take that quote out of context, as Irving seemed to be saying it in the context of not having anyone teaching him how to be a better leader.

Here's the full quote:
“Obviously being a leader is not a perfect job, it’s very lonely, everybody else just looks in from the outside and criticizes you and that’s part of the business and I get it. It’s more just holding myself to a higher standard every single day and getting used to that. Three years in Cleveland, a lot of things going on speculation all that stuff, I had to deal with that all on my own, I didn’t really have help from anybody so I was just figuring that out.”
