Dion Truthers are the best. Keep up the good fight Truthers.

No, this is not like the Danny Green situation. Danny Green was a second round pick and four year college player who busted his ass trying to make an nba roster. Dion was the 4th pick of the draft and has felt entitled to playing time and touches ever since, while also drastically overrating his own talent and making zero effort to adapt and/or evolve his game to find a niche in this league.

This guy keeps showing you who he is and you Truthers refuse to see it. Take a bag of jerseys for this clown... just get him away from the other 14 guys.

Let's just get one thing straight about this. Mr Green did NOT bust his ass until after he got cut for the 3rd time. It wasn't until then that reality finally hit him that the gravy train might be leaving. It wasn't until that moment that he actually started to apply himself, to actually do the work he should have been doing all along. He was very very close to being out of the NBA.

Well, you should probably not reference things you don't know.

There's a link upthread about this very phenomenon, Post #17329.

People that like correct information?
Everything in this post is taken completely out of context and somehow manages to not debunk anything or add to this discussion. Are we really expected to believe that someone with way more talent wouldn't have started?

He's not going to be happy getting 8 shots a game coming off the bench and it's going to eventually affect his defense and overall game IMHO... He needs the ball in his hands to be happy and it affects his attitude on both ends of the floor when he doesn't get it....
why does he deserve more than 8 shots per game considering how inefficient he is (and always has been)?

i mean, he's always been on really bad teams which allowed him to shoot more. now he's on a good team, it's a reality check - he is well down the list in terms of priority on offense. if he can't deal with it or fix it and earn the opportunities, he can get shipped the hell out of here.

You have a team that has maybe played 3 solid games on both ends for 48 min.

You have 2 vets in Love and Lebron who are top 5 at their positions and between them you have a handful of games that look like they are playing how we know they are all capable.

You have Kyrie who had played well, but has had the ball taken from him because he can't consistently run the offense. His ball handling has effectively been "benched".

The 4th or 5th most talented player who has been asked to sacrifice the most and play a role most out of his comfort zone is catching the most flak. Ok ok!

Just look at the Tristan Thompson
thread where no one is saying. "He is playing pretty well right now". Not a single post after his 9 and 11 d-game against te magic in limited minutes.

Look at the Anderson thread where people are constantly complaining about his contract even though he seems to be the only one who knows what is going on and is consistently outperforming all star and "above average defender" Kevin Love.

This board sucks right now and has a ton of reactionary Whiney Baby posts.

Blatt is giving Dion a little tough love right now. He will either respond or he won't, but personally I cannot wait for Delly to get back. He is a cool head we desperately need to be on the court. I'm not saying Dion is a near all star, but he can play better than this.

I'm just hoping he can string together a few good games so that some struggling team will be willing to flip a decent 3 and D guy for him. Iman Shumpert was brought up this summer, though some observed that he couldn't actually shoot and was injury prone. The other thing is I don't think Phil Jackson is likely to be a fan of Waiters' game.

Aside from his other shortcomings, just once I would like to see him move into position and grab a long rebound, rather than stand there flat-footed while a guard from the other team runs in and gets the offensive board. I don't know how many times I have seen that from him this year, and it's cost the team numerous possessions.

Another thing that goes against the narrative that Dion is a passionate player who hates losing. The guy is basically morally opposed to rebounding the ball. He won't do it. He won't box out. He won't get in among the trees. Refuses to do it. Somehow a guy who hates doing the dirty work on either end of the court gets this label as a "tough, scrappy" player. But he does none of the tough or scrappy things.

The voice of reason. god damn people, relax. if he's still playing like this in Jan. then talk about a trade. but stop acting like dion's the only player that isn't playing well. Yeah, no doubt he is visabily frustrated, i would be too. and its totally fair to criticize his game at the moment. but he's a great talent and he's being treated like an outcast. You know that, I know that, and he knows that. That falls on both him, the coach, the team, and us as fans. He clearly wants to be a part of this and is having a hard time finding his way. Its a long season though, so instead of crying like a bunch of little chicken shits, lets let things work themselves out. they either will or they wont, but stop making absolute declarations on the future like your some sort of all knowing basketball guru.

This is year three, how many more years do we need to give Dion before he starts doing things that consistently contribute to a winning ball club? He still takes really bad shots, still doesn't consistently hustle or give effort, still has problems finishing around the hoop, still pouts when things aren't going his way. What is it about Dion Waiters that is so endearing to so many people on this board? There is no other player that randomly gets people to come out of the wood work to defend his awful play.

Despite having an excellent opportunity to increase his efficiency significantly as a product of being surrounded by so much talent; he has found a way to seemingly take a higher percentage of bad shots, and continues to miss layups. Whats worse is he doesn't make up for any of that by hustling, defending, or doing any dirty work.

Edit: how about instead of clicking a button that says dumb or disagree; we actually type out a response using our critical thinking skills? I know it is a lot to ask, but this type of behavior is particularly bad when it involves dion.

MCW won rookie of the year last season and he came into his freshman year @ Syracuse as a 5 star recruit so we know he has plenty of talent.

He played @ Syracuse for 2 years. His first year he came off the bench because Boeheim opted to start the players whom had been with him longer (seniority) in Jardine and Triche. His 2nd season however, he started as Scoop Jardine left and he became the oldest capable PG on the roster.

So yes, you are expected "to believe that someone with way more talent wouldn't have started" in relation to Dion. That's just the way Boeheim operates and it's well documented.

Why does Dion get all the hate?

I really do not understand it. Kevin Love is supposed to be a superstar in this league and his numbers are way off from what we are used to seeing.

Dion is struggling right now as well, but couldn't that be a product of the entire team still getting to know each other's tendencies?

Yeah, Dion has taken some bad shots and has shown a bad attitude, but he isn't the only player on this team that is doing those things. I've seen a drop in production from most players and the collective attitude of the team has truly been disappointing.

Give this team a chance. Also, we may as well give Dion a chance too. Everyone who is hating on him right now, I must ask: what sort of value could he really bring back right now?

I am not one to argue about past drafts. Dion Waiters is a Cavalier right now and I hope and believe he can get it together.

Again, Michael carter Williams is not a mega talent like the guys I listed. Shoot, philly was busy shopping him before this draft. He was taken late lottery in a historically bad draft and has the same exact consistency problems as our boy dion. Sorry, I'm not going to buy that boheim is automatically going to place freshmen on the bench. The last time he actually had that kind of talent he started, and it wouldn't have mattered if there were guys with seniority in the front court; he was way too good to come off the bench.

Why are we arguing this anyway? I feel like this is a distraction from the real topic, which is waiters is playing like ass and sulking. So, instead of splitting hairs over this petty argument that is meaningless to his tenure on the cavs; why don't we instead find ways to justify why he can't hustle, or do any dirty work; despite not bringing anything to the table offensively?

But hey, let's just continue to just pound the disagree button; that will show everybody.

Because kevin love has actually produced at an elite level in the nba. Dion waiters is the same exact player he was when he entered the nba; only now he is worse because he doesn't have the freedom to pound the rock for most of the possession and he refuses to do any of the dirty work that is necessary to offset his inefficiency. Waiters has been given plenty of time to showcase himself, much more than a lot if players actually.

Have you watched Dion? I mean really watched him? If so you wouldn't be asking this question.

Watched every game. I think dion is playing pretty poorly. My point is that his bad play isn't even in the top three of issues I have w this team right now.

Is Dion the reason we are losing games?

That's why I am saying I don't understand the hate.

He surely is not playing well. Shooting under 40%. His attitude is what upsets me the most.

But, I also see that his playing time is sporadic. People think he is an arrogant player, but I more so see a player with a lack of confidence who is trying to prove he belongs on this team.

He takes the tough shots because he wants to prove he belongs. Also, this isn't a team where if you pass the ball, it will come back. That is why we are under .500.

The ball movement is horrible right now and the team is a mess. Let's stop the hate on any of these guys and see how they fit in around the all-star break.

Before the season Lebron said that Dion would be the guy to get all the hate. I don't understand why.
