Anderson Varejao

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I can't believe anyone was criticizing the deal for him.
In the last month he's putting up 11ppg, 7.3 rpg on 59% shooting from the field in only 26 mpg. They obviously have him on a minute restriction and that will loosen up when we really need him in the playoffs. If we can keep him healthy with the limited minutes, pushing him to 35 mpg in the playoffs would make him one of the best bigs available. That ability to hit the mid range shot and cut to the basket and finish is ideal

He has been fantastic, you are correct. The only issue I would have is paying both Thompson and Andy. We would have 20 plus million dollars locked up in centers and still looking to add another center. One of Andy or Tristan would be making a lot of money( most likely Tristan) and having to ride the pine due to a log jam.

The third year on Andy's deal isn't guaranteed though, so that is really nice. Paying Thompson what he wants would be ridiculous. I can't even believe we offered him that kind of money, and he actually turned it down.

no point in calling me out if what I said is true. I don't over hype cavs players and can see them for what they are. AV is not the same player he was 2 years ago and is much slower. Every time someone bumps him he's rubbing that body part. Dude is to injury prone to be handing him that kind of money. He's not that good of a rebounder anymore and the numbers are showing it. Seems ppl are looking at his FG% which means nothing when he's getting open looks because of ppl doubling up on Lebron.

It's easy to say "get that weak shit outta here!" but how about explaining how any of these guys are better then JJ and deserve more money?

As for trading AV I don't that ever happening. He now has a horrible contract that most teams would never take for a injury prone player.

The point is what you said is absurd, and not even remotely true. JJ Hickson is better than both TT and Andy? Please. He may be more athletic but that's it, and he's as dumb as it gets for an NBA player. At one point he arguably had more potential than TT or Andy, but if that's even true that point has long past.

1 - THere's nothing wrong with having 4 bigs.
2 - Tristan and Andy can play either position.
3 - the cap is going to skyrocket in 2016
4 - let Gilbert worry about this willingness to pay the luxury tax while we're winning.

Paying your 4th big man 12 plus million dollars is extremely hard to justify for any teams payroll. Until we see hard numbers on what the cap will actually be; I think I will just base it in current numbers.

People are saying our defense can't be that good. It can be. They look damn good when they are playing with each other defensively. Tonight Washington didn't do a bad job, the cavaliers punked them.

Andy is awesome.

we pretty much know what the cap will be in 2 years. The massive TV contract is in, there is no reason to base it on current numbers. The cap is going to jump by the ball park of $30 million.

And the plan is absolutely to use Haywood's contract to bring in another $10-18 million player, most likely a 4th big.

There is less reason to base it on future numbers. We have no idea what the next CBA will look like. Sure, the cap might jump 30 million but what if max contract restrictions are done away with or greatly loosened? That extra money won't be flowing to a the middle of the road players, but instead the star players.

we know there won't be a new CBA in 2016 so we can absolutely base 2016 salary cap numbers on the already agreed upon TV contract.

Complaining that Andy is shooting well only because of Lebron and he takes bunnies is like saying she is only hot because she is skinny, has a pretty face and big tits.

Very true, Andy's jumpshot has improved massively the last few seasons. Wasn't he leading the league in midrange FG% among big men either last season or the season before until he went down with an injury?

People keep talking about the cap "skyrocketing" in 2016 have to remember that both Love and LeBron are on short term deals for this very reason. We do NOT have any benefit or advantage here, as the only significant player locked up before the big money hits is Kyrie.

Kyrie is locked up
Andy is locked up until 2018
Love is supposed to sign a max deal this offseason.
Tristan will sign this offseason.

Unless love changes his mind (there are pros and cons to either decision), LeBron is the only important one we have to worry about.

Not necessarily. From Zach Lowe:

No one knows exactly how the league plans to infuse the money, and the solution could create fissures among the NBA’s 30 teams. Already, teams have started lobbying for scenarios that most benefit them. The league and players union would both seem to have some interest in avoiding any giant one-year leap in the cap number, a mega-jump that would most likely occur ahead of the 2016-17 season

there are pretty specific rules for how the TV money is shared. Why would the players union have any interest at all in slowing it?
