Johnny Manziel: Swan Won't Return His Calls

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Four things factored into this shit...
1) Injuries - from people like Dansby to Taylor and then in game to Gilbert and Haden. That was a big difference between this game and last.
2) Johnny - looked lost and made some shit throws. Whether you like him, or not, it is clear he needs some time to show worth. 38 plays? Not enough to REALLY judge.
3) The rest of the offense - from drops, to penalties, to horrid blocking. They took a bad Manziel game and it made it worse.
4) Playcalling - I've had no issue this year with calls, really, but I thought they had a piss poor plan offensively.

Season? Over. Evaluation? Two big weeks. Problem? They, once again, aren't shitty enough to be in a spot to draft a Top Tier QB... if they want one.

Absolutely no doubt the team lost, not Manziel but the Cleveland Browns as a team. The defense destroyed them today because they couldn't stop anyone. Honestly Willis McGahee could have rushed for a 100 yds on the Browns today. This put Manziel in a bad spot having to play from behind immediately.

Still, Manziel didn't help at all. I mean, really he was of zero help today. I was incredibly disappointed in his play today because it looked like Manziel of T&AM out there throwing the ball up and hoping Mike Evans comes down with it. That type of play will not work in the NFL. It simply won't. He didn't show that he's learned anything about the pro game. Maybe next week will be better but all of his fundamental flaws were on full display today.

With regard to the play calling...
There have been rumblings that Manziel doesn't have a grasp on the full playbook. Don't you think it's possible the play calling was an issue because they were limited to what Manziel knew?

As you guys know I'm no fan of Manziel however he's gotta keep playing this year. See what he puts out there. See what he's learned. See how he adjusts. For what they've invested in him, it's too early to make a call on him. Let him play out the year. Even that, 3 games is probably too little to make a judgment on him.

To be fair, Mike Evans would have made that catch in the endzone on the pass intended to Gabriel that was picked off - but that's because he is actually a good receiver who comes back to and high points the ball -something a 5'9" WR will not do well. In conclusion, we must draft receivers 6'4 or bigger with 35" verticals and sticky hands to have success with Johnny.

Pretty sure that was intended for Gordon, but I applaud the joke effort.

here to admit I want Manziel to do well and bought into the hype because I want a franchise QB so bad...but wow he has alot of work to do......depressing because if we go with him next year we are going to be rebuilding again most likely

Good call, my bad.

Full credit on the joke, I just tried not to watch that replay.

I don't blame you. It's like trying to scrub your brain after walking in on your mom pile driving your dad (No, I did not mean the reverse; today really was that bad.)

That would be a game changer man. My dad is dead too.

Can't even imagine seeing that. The implications would be so far reaching...

Haven't read anything yet so I'll just make my statement and leave.

There is a good reason why Manziel was on the bench. He looked very much like a rookie QB who had the weight of the world on his shoulders. He was trying to do too much and it burned him a few times. Combine that with the rest of the team failing miserably around him, it was a trainwreck.

Johnny can come back, and can come back very soon. It was humbling. Either he takes this in stride or he gets demoralized and thinks about it too much. He still has the arm and ability to be a good NFL starter. But it's going to look ugly at times.

I think he needs to learn how to learn a playbook and read a defense for starters.

Absolutely nothing can mitigate the fact that his first start was a complete disaster. He didn't just wreck this team, he totaled it -no survivors. It looked like 5 porch dogs trying to catch a chicken. He was running for his life with no actual danger. Everything was moving too fast for him. I don't know for sure, but did he attempt any passes with two feet on the ground? He lobbed every pass like he was trying to throw over Shaq. That 'white men cant jump, bro' look on Jim Dray's face when Johnny shot-put it over him, was priceless. I didn't see one ounce of the poise he showed in college. I'm pretty sure nobody on the field saw it either. He's got the rest of the season to try and win back the confidence of the locker room.

I can't wait until Greg Cosell breaks down the film. He's going to have a field day.

Meril Hoge is also calling for whoever drafted Manziel to be fired.
