Johnny Manziel: Swan Won't Return His Calls

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The entire team shit to bed today. Johnny, the o-line, the D, the coaches, everybody. You can blame JFF all you want. Yes he played like crap. But my god the D gave up 200 yards rushing. The o-line played like absolute dog shit, the RBs were terrible...........
One of the worst overall games I've seen by a Browns team. Except for a couple players, no heart at all.

the offense sucked because, manziel simply isnt ready. the bengals were basically able to put him in a "prove us wrong" defense.

was the loss on manziel, no. was the offense getting absolutely shut down, and shut out on manziel, yes

Both sides of the line, the Browns got destoryed. Nothing around that, honestly.

I had a feeling Johnny wouldn't come out dominating right away, but I definitely had hopes he, and the offense in general - wouldn't have played so poorly.

You keep Johnny in for the final 2 games. You see if the kid can get something going heading into the offseason, where I expect the Browns to improve both lines of the football.

So it's johnnys fault hawkins dropped a pass that was right on the money? It was johnnys fault out center got absolutely man handled and he got sacked on a hand off?

Johnny made mistakes, but let's not act like the line blocked particularly well today.

Before you continue going on with arbitrary plays and ignoring how bad Manziel played, I'll just remind you now that nobody is making an argument that this team outside of Manziel played particularly well.

So feel free to construct your strawman either way, but pointing to a dropped pass and a missed block like they were performance game-changers is just not a valid point.

Who else won a heisman their freshman year? Nobody

Davey o'brien award freshman year? Nobody

How many of them broke a 43 year old record their freshman year set by a manning?

What did nick saban say about those guys?

That Davey O'Brien award and Nick Saban quote didn't have any affect on the game today, which is shocking.

I woudlnt nitpick over a few plays.
Johnny was not smooth on his hand offs.. they were kind of a disaster.

He had three really terrible throws two of them turned into interception.

What he did do was stay in the pocket he even stepped through it one time. He wasnt looking for the run except for the called qb run play . other than that even while scrambling he was looking for the pass.

The receivers need to get use to breaking off play routes when the pocket breaks down and Manziel held on to thre ball too long on a few plays.

false start penalties. miscommunication on the hand off off balance throws are all part of the rookie package. The Browns did themselves no favors with the defense allowing the Bengals to get off to a quick start.

Ultimately im not seeing anything from this game that would of allowed the Browns win this game with Hoyer at the helm. so it was better to get Manziel out on the field.

Bobthe2nd seemed to think so. He said the offense not playing well is on is on Manziel. When in actuality it's on the whole team.

It sucks. It really does.

Never been so hyped as being a Browns fan right before this one started.

But everyone should have known to an extent - being thrown out there to play an angry, revenge-seeking team like the Bengals was going to bring the extreme out of Manziel - good or bad.

The QB's energy dictates the offense. Johnny lacked that on all levels. The team came out flat and stayed that way until the game was over. The offensive line gave Manziel no help whatsoever. Schwartz and Thomas got called for repeated false starts and the lack of communication was to blame for delay of games, setting Manziel back an extra 5 yards every time the offense had a chance to make a legit push.

The defense couldn't stop the run if they're lives depended on it. There were times were Bengals had a 3rd and 7, and would run it right through effortlessly.

It seemed like the whole team quit today. Pretty much felt like they knew this kid called Manziel wasn't taking them very far, and they had nothing to play for. That eliminated any type of passion the Browns usually come out with.

So many question marks going forward about the QB position. Not sure if Manziel is the guy that can take this team to the promise land. It looked like they just signed the kid a week ago and told him to take over. I would go all in on a new starting QB for next year, a veteran that Manziel can learn from.

But all in all, than fans don't deserve this kind of effort giving by the Browns today. There needs to be an extreme push this offseason to get this team back in the right mind state. They left this Browns stadium today looking like not much has changed since 1999....

I know you've been a Johnny fan boy since day one, but come on.

Yes the team as a whole failed. Johnny had a handful of nice plays. However there were several horrendous plays he made as well.

Should have been picked 3 times. He didn't read the D, he stared down receivers, he locked in on a target and just went to him, he constantly threw it high. There were multiple times where the play actually worked but he either couldn't find or missed his receiver. These were all concerns about him coming out.

In my mind the D lost us this game, but the whole offense was atrocious as well. However Johnny was the worst part of our offense today.

Lol these people saying it was the entire offenses fault are the same ones putting the blame squarely on hoyer for the past few weeks. Johnny blew this game along with the whole team. Accept that fact, move on and hope he plays better next week.

Feels a lot like after Antawn Jamison's first game when he went 1-18 or something like that...

Well that's not too reassuring. hahaha

Because after that, Jamison went on to be a great tank driver for us.

If there were another 64 games for us, that'd put us in a great spot for the #1 pick. lol

In honesty, I didn't want Manziel, still don't. I thought he's just a gimmick QB. A name, not a player. I didn't even have any hopes for today's game. Manziel thrives on broken plays, but this team doesn't. All year, we've capitalized on scripted plays. I have to just accept it the rest of the season, that Manziel gets the rest of the games. For the teams' sake, I hope he understands that timing is key in the NFL, and for our offense specifically.

I don't want him to fail. At the same time, I don't want him to "be more than he is". I want him to show whether he gets it or don't. Weird to fully explain, but "is he really learning" or is it a byproduct of Hoyer being exposed? Show us something the next 2 weeks to believe in. We saw that this team is capable of winning with competent QB play. I just don't think mentally, Johnny is ready to "lead".

Feels like the end of Field of Dreams when the douche bag ginger brother finally stops being an annoying asshole towards Ray and can finally see the baseball players.

Don't sell the farm, Johnny fans...

Four things factored into this shit...
1) Injuries - from people like Dansby to Taylor and then in game to Gilbert and Haden. That was a big difference between this game and last.
2) Johnny - looked lost and made some shit throws. Whether you like him, or not, it is clear he needs some time to show worth. 38 plays? Not enough to REALLY judge.
3) The rest of the offense - from drops, to penalties, to horrid blocking. They took a bad Manziel game and it made it worse.
4) Playcalling - I've had no issue this year with calls, really, but I thought they had a piss poor plan offensively.

Season? Over. Evaluation? Two big weeks. Problem? They, once again, aren't shitty enough to be in a spot to draft a Top Tier QB... if they want one.
