Four things factored into this shit...
1) Injuries - from people like Dansby to Taylor and then in game to Gilbert and Haden. That was a big difference between this game and last.
2) Johnny - looked lost and made some shit throws. Whether you like him, or not, it is clear he needs some time to show worth. 38 plays? Not enough to REALLY judge.
3) The rest of the offense - from drops, to penalties, to horrid blocking. They took a bad Manziel game and it made it worse.
4) Playcalling - I've had no issue this year with calls, really, but I thought they had a piss poor plan offensively.
Season? Over. Evaluation? Two big weeks. Problem? They, once again, aren't shitty enough to be in a spot to draft a Top Tier QB... if they want one.
Absolutely no doubt the team lost, not Manziel but the Cleveland Browns as a team. The defense destroyed them today because they couldn't stop anyone. Honestly Willis McGahee could have rushed for a 100 yds on the Browns today. This put Manziel in a bad spot having to play from behind immediately.
Still, Manziel didn't help at all. I mean, really he was of zero help today. I was incredibly disappointed in his play today because it looked like Manziel of T&AM out there throwing the ball up and hoping Mike Evans comes down with it. That type of play will not work in the NFL. It simply won't. He didn't show that he's learned anything about the pro game. Maybe next week will be better but all of his fundamental flaws were on full display today.
With regard to the play calling...
There have been rumblings that Manziel doesn't have a grasp on the full playbook. Don't you think it's possible the play calling was an issue because they were limited to what Manziel knew?
As you guys know I'm no fan of Manziel however he's gotta keep playing this year. See what he puts out there. See what he's learned. See how he adjusts. For what they've invested in him, it's too early to make a call on him. Let him play out the year. Even that, 3 games is probably too little to make a judgment on him.
