JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He has been paying OK, but you guys see he is another defensive hole in the roster, right?

No more than Dion was. Add Shump to the mix, and its a win. Simple.

Yes, him and Kyrie should not be allowed to play together. Until Shump is back I would insert Marion into the starting lineup.

LOL @ this team. I'm not laughing at you - just amazes me...it's a wonder we can string together 5 bodies to play together the way this team is constructed. This one can't play with that one, that one can't play with him - these 14 can't play a lick of defense. Lmao, what a crew we have.

The funny thing it that he doesnt take ill advised three's, he takes ill advised pull up two's. I can live with 38% from 3, its the 41% overall that needs to improve.

That said, he is a huge upgrade over Dion and i have been pleasantly surprised with his attitude and success so far.
honestly, his fondness for the dumbass long 2s has lessened since he's been in cleveland compared to this season in new york. he still takes too many for sure - 26%+ of a players shots absolutely should not be long 2s - so hopefully he does work on discipline even more.

although to be fair, dion also has a penchant for taking terrible long 2s. more than jr has as a cav thus far, too. so jr isn't exactly even a downgrade in that regard, and he's certainly an upgrade elsewhere. i agree about being pleasantly surprised thus far. he still needs some fine tuning, and i think if and when the offensive system actually gets running he can be utilized really, really well so long as he's willing to go along with it.

Yes Dion liked the long two's also, but we were talking about an upgrade, simular players, much better shooter for JR though.

And 4 games into his Cleveland career is hardly a sample size worth noting. I am cautiously optimistic, key word cautious.

We just have to play him every second game.

I think this guy is just what we need. Him off the bench will be awesome and he made some big shoots for us tonight. I think this will a team that brings out the good J.R as he has been so far.

"WHEN IN DOUBT, JUST SHOOT!" has to be be my quote of this NBA season. :git:

I've been surprised that Smith, so early in his time with the Cavs, is getting 35+ minutes/game. I don't disagree with it. I'm just surprised that he is getting so much time. He makes some dumb plays but he's usually the better option at 2/3. I thought I would be completely frustrated him by now...

He's made 14 threes in 5 games. Yes, he's chucked up like a chucker par excellence, but he's hit enough to have defenses respect him. Marion has hit 12 all year and Dion hit 22 in 33 games.

What has surprised me is that, even if he does not hesitate whatsoever to shoot, I haven't been groaning that often at his shot selection. The guy is open from three, he shoots the ball. He makes some ridiculous drives to the hoop. But he doesn't seem to force things as much as I expected. He doesn't take the long 2-pointers Dion mastered. He also doesn't stop the ball that often. Maybe I'm just pleased because he's not frustrating in the same way that Dion too often was.

I don't think he's perfect, but he's not getting in the way of the offense (at least when it is run, which is another story) and he's trying on defense. Still can't wait for Shumpert to get healthy.

Smith I admit I was happy he was in the trade because I wanted Shumpert and got him. However I hoping he could at least give us what Waiters did and he went beyond that in offense. I think Waiters was learning defense but at this point they were the same. J.R on a good team can put up big numbers. Plus he is play with Bron now not Melo who is basically a more skilled smith.
