Playoff Positioning

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Did you see how Butler got injured? He got crushed by a screen. That has nothing to do with being overworked. Same thing with Taj. Everytime he has gone down this year is because he has rolled his ankle. How either of those two injuries can be put on Thibs is beyond me.

As far as silver lining here Thibs might have to play McDermott. Snell stepped up when he got a chance. I think the Bulls bigger problems are at the point guard position until Rose comes back. Aaron Brooks can only play against 2nd string PGs. He has no chance against starters. Hinrich might give you some defense but he can't give you anything on offense anymore. I mean look at this

Worst part is that Thibs insists on playing both of them at the same time. I was hoping the Bulls would go with the jumbo back court of Snell and Butler since Snell is quick enough to stay with PGs. But that option is out the window now. Injuries are a bitch.

My apologies. Didn't catch the game until the end when the announcers really seemed to ignore Butler. They were talking about Barnes's injury however for LAC. Still there seems to be so many wear and tear style injuries for the Bulls and poor management when they come back. You'd think a franchise like the Bulls with the resources of Chicago around them could put together a better medical/training staff. NBA writers all over the place talk about how terrible they are. Do you think the Bulls will make a play for a Will Bynum or some other guard coming over from China?

I myself have questioned the Bulls medical staff. I think part of the problem is the players are too proud. I feel like the some of the injured Bulls players come back before they are ready. Thibs obviously welcomes them back and in his eyes if you say you are ready to play then that means you can handle the minutes. I wonder how many times the medical staff has cleared a player because the player says they are good to go.

I have heard Will Bynum's name come up but I would honestly like to see more of E'Twaun Moore. When Derrick was in and out of the lineup early in the season along with Hinrich he was filling the backup role nicely. I would rather see 30 minutes of Moore than Hinrich. Ideally it would be 25 brooks, 20 Moore, 15 Hinrich.

Didn't mean to derail this as I know this thread is about playoff positioning for Cavs. I think the path is clear for the Cavs to get the #2 spot. We will see how far the Bulls drop. Butler, Rose, Taj is way too much for offense and defense for the Bulls to find elsewhere.

That series against Washington was tough to watch. Unfortunately for you guys, you may see a lot more of that for the next month.

Cavs will probably end of playing the Heat in the first round as a 2nd seed.

Edit - Miami averages less than 94 points a game wow.

A Philadelphia win today against the Raptors (without Lowry) will make me happy after our yesterday's lost.
The game starting right now.

Didn't happen. And the Hawks get Houston without Nut-shot Harden...

Well boys, it's that time of year again. The classic deadly March schedule for the Cavs…

3/3 v Boston
3/4 @ Toronto
3/6 @ Atlanta
3/7 v Phoenix
3/10 @ Dallas
3/12 @ San Antonio
3/15 @ Orlando
3/16 @ Miami
3/18 v Brooklyn
3/20 v Indiana
3/22 @ Milwaukee
3/25 @ Memphis
3/27 @ Brooklyn
3/29 @ Philadelphia

Note: Bolded games are against teams over .500 (except for Indiana, which I feel will be tough because Paul George is likely to be back and we've already lost twice to them) and underlined games are against teams on the second night of a back to back.

I'm expecting somewhere around 10-4 for the rest of March.

It's a tough schedule in March, though it does get easier in April. That said, ESPN currently projects Toronto, Chicago, and Cleveland to finish in a virtual tie. Tie breakers could come into play.

Toronto has admittedly been struggling. There's still time to turn things around for them. So far as I am aware, they are healthy. Lowry has been held out of the last two games, and I understand he might not play Wednesday against the Cavs.

Chicago is missing Rose, Butler, and Gibson (Gibson only for a week). Butler is by far the biggest loss. Snell has played well and mitigates the loss a bit. Noah has been playing better. If it weren't for the Butler injury, I'd say Chicago's prospects would still be reasonably good, regardless of the Rose situation.

The battle for the 7th and 8th seeds is shaping up to be interesting, with 6 teams with a legitimate shot. I guess Miami and now Indy are the favorites.

Indy can be a real threat for us with Paul's getting back. I guess They will be the toughest match-up in the 1'st round for any team with home advantage in this round.

If the core of LeBron/Kyrie/Love/Moz doesn't miss any games (before possible meaningless ones in the end), I can't see how we don't get the 2nd seed.

If Washingston would step the fuck up and beat the short handed Bulls tonight and we beat the Raptors tomorrow we could have the 2 seed.

After San Antonio on the 12th the rest of the season is smooth sailing -- not many tough opponents or back to backs. After March 16th we don't have any back to backs for almost a whole month, till April 12th. We also have a couple of stretches with 2-3 days off between games, that we can use for rest or practice.

I don't think we should be busting our ass trying to get the second seed. Just work on chemistry and make sure everyone is healthy going into the playoffs.
