JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm sure it's been pointed out already, but JR has always thrived in situations where there has been a clear structure in place with vets that will take the lead. When he had success in Denver, it was with Chauncey. When he had success in NY, it was with Kidd. Put this guy in a system with vets who will hold him accountable, and he's really good. Take that structure away, and all hell breaks loose.

We talked about Dion not accepting his role and all his Shaqtin' A Fool moments. One of the funniest things he said all night was that "Dion takes even more step backs than I do. Mine go in though." :chuckle:

He wanted to have a private conversation, and you turn around and put him on blast on the internet? Damn.

Probably meant private conversation with Cavaliers fans. That would obviously exclude the entirety of NEOMG and most of the major media.

What better way to do that than RCF?

Haha. Trust me, I didn't share everything. He had a lot of things to say on other players in the league. I'll give you this one though.

Come on, man. You know you can't just say that kinda thing without expecting us to want more. :chuckle:

@IronCav.

That is simply gold.

@wuck

The board may still want to cover some of that before it leaks out into the media. You know how things are now a days.

I'm going to leave it up to @IronCav. He can edit the post if he wishes.

I don't know the "rules" in terms of whether this particular conversation was private or meant for possible public consumption, but I also don't see anything that inflammatory, nor information about explicitly terrible behavior. Maybe it's not so nice about the Knicks.

We have heard a lot more damning stuff about players or other folks in the Cavs organization from other frequent RCF posters.

If there are any concerns from JR Smith or his people, I'm sure they'll contact us. Pretty sure that any current Cavs fan who reads that post will just like Smith that much more, and be incredibly jealous of Iron Cav, to be honest.

I've seen the media do worse recently especially with Love's honest vanilla interviews this week.

LeBron's hairline, Gilbert's pockets, JRs drinking, and Dion's low basketball IQ could rub people the wrong way.

Agreed, but I'm not sure that a semi-anonymous message board post counts as a "source", even to NEOMG. I also don't think that LeBron's hairline, Gilbert's money, Dion's step backs, or any player's drinking would constitute news to any competent reporter. Easy for Smith to just deny it all, as well.

I would have to go back and delete a lot of posts (including posts by moderators) if I touched this one. I'm going to leave it up to the OP here.

Knowing NEOMG, they'll just make a story about anything. Including Delly's coffee routine before every game....

one question...did you or he mention winning a title for Cleveland??

That's what we toasted to at the end. When we got our shots he asked what we were toasting to and I said a title. His response, "Hell yeah!"

Oh and he said he's gonna get a Cavs tattoo if we win the championship. He said he's running out of room and he's not gonna touch his face though. I told him the Game has an LA tattoo on his face and he just laughed and said "That's the last guy you want as a role model."

Too many solid quotes from him all night lol.

Well I don't think a lot of it was too private, I mean we had Cavs officials at the table next to us. He didn't tell us to keep it off the internet either. Oh well, got some more to share.

He said there's not one team that he feels can beat us 4 games. Typical answer, but he said he'd love to play the Heat just because the atmosphere would be great at the Q.

Here's something more controversial, he thinks Paul George is an idiot for coming back this year. His words, "Man, he's locked into guaranteed money and he's gonna act like it's a contract year. If I was getting 90 mil my ass would be sitting."

I have like two hours of gold here to sift through, so that's why its a little hard to keep organized.

Damn one thing i couldnt go without asking was what is up with the untying shoes thing... I would of bought him a shot for that response alone.

Coach Blatt is a hot topic on the board did he say anything interesting about him (or the coaching staff in general) besides the short film sessions you mentioned?

We didn't really talk any specifics about our coaching staff. He was mostly ragging on NY being awful and literally having no clue on how to do anything right. He did say that nothing happens on the team unless Lebron and Kyrie approve it first. Goes with that whole GM Lebron thing, but I was surprised that Kyrie was consulted as well.

Something I found odd, I didn't know that if Lebron requests his special extra wide headband that the rest of the team only can use that option for the game. No two players can wear different width sizes.
