So halrook, your basic assumption is that Blatt wants out because of all the crap he has to put up with and because he doesn't want to be seen inferior to Lebron?

That's certainly a new angle, but it's hard to buy into that. He seem like the type of guy that wants to win, first and foremost. That's something he can do with the Cavs, no question.

By the way, i'm not sure it's possible to bask in a shadow.

i never said blatt WANTS out. i merely stated the eluded obvious. i do not think the current environment is ideal for him, professionally , and a coach at his level wants to make a difference and wants the credit for it. as for basking ...greater men have spoken

Shine On You Crazy Diamond 6-9 LYRICS
Pink Floyd

Nobody knows where you are
How near or how far

Shine on you crazy diamond
Pile on many more layers
And I’ll be joining you there

Shine on you crazy diamond
And we’ll bask in the shadow
Of yesterday’s triumph

And sail on the steel breeze
Come on you boy child
You winner and loser
Come on you miner for truth and delusion, and shine!

LeBron supposedly wanted Spoelstra gone early in the 2010-11 season. It happens. But what was going on early in the season is long gone now. We all saw "the hug" last night at the end of the game.
Lebron has also never came out and said he supports and wants Blatt around.

i do not think he will either . lebron is not a liar.

i am sure there is room for only one king in his kingdom, i am not sure blatt is willing to take the role of the court jester for long...

What would be a better environment for him professionally than having a chance to win a title every single year?

"Bask in the shadow" is unique to Pink Floyd, it's a literary device that plays on the inversion. Just like "steel breeze." Unless you were going for the poetic effect, the phrase you were looking for, i think, is "bask in the glory." Anyway, probably best to not get too deep into that one here.

this is exactly what i mean. your premise is that blatt can only win with this current roaster. well what if he doesnt think so ? what if he is set to show that it is not only a players game but a coaches one as well...

Sorry, but I don't see Coach Blatt leaving this Cleveland job to coach in Orlando.

If Windy and Bucher had sex and made a baby and that baby had sex with Skip Bayless and Stephen A.'s baby...

The end result would be you.
i hate these guys ... just saying prokhorov probably isnt the only one who has blatt on his speed dial....

I think halrook is right. Look at Phil Jackson. The guy has a career of winning championships, but everyone talks about how he was second fiddle to Jordan and Kobe. People mockingly call him the Zen Master because he's a walking contradiction. All success, no glory. The annals of time will never recognize him as being as great as Larry Brown, the coach who succeeded despite his stars, not because of them.

Blatt wants to be the next Brad Stevens, a guy who can build a playoff team from youth and grit. He knows guys like Jackson and Riley are fool's gold.

Don't even get me started on the pretender Popovich who has suggested he will retire when Duncan does. The guy is basically admitting he's made a career of riding Timmy's jockstrap.

do not get me wrong here guys, i am all for blatt . !!
is my assumption that far fetched ?.
do you really think a coach at his level will be content in this post ?
do you think lebron has a room for a coach like blatt ?
do you think owners around the NBA do not see that ?
do you think david blatt came here for the ride ?
well, i think he came to make a difference , and i do not see this happening with lebron casting his (well deserved ) shadow on him.

Yes. It is ridiculously far-fetched.
