Klay Thompson suffers concussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I initially thought that Thompson probably had a concussion but was able to pass the test. Gonna be hilarious IF the media is all over this shit but that's most likely not gonna happen. Just heard Doug Gotlieb say that he doesn't believe in concussion protocols that require follow up tests to determine if a player can practice or play. He said it was meant for football....This guy clearly does not have his children playing sports lol. If my son had a concussion, damn straight he's not going up to bat and face a pitcher that might throw an errant ball at his head. Or football where he might get knocked the fuck out. Or basketball where someone might get undercut or accidentally whack his head during a drive to the rim. I mean, the risk might vary but there's ALWAYS a risk and you never want to take a chance with head injuries. Especially during this period in sports where we're starting to learn a lot more about the long term affects of head/brain injuries. I guess the warriors made a decision and felt that that they can sacrifice Klay's long term mental health in order to maximize their championship chance SMDFH. Parents are pulling their kids out of football due to fear of potential long term brain damage and you got an idiot like Doug Gotlieb who trivialized concussion protocol. Guess that bitch never had a concussion in his life.

Well, Klay's dad seemed fine with it...

What's the likelihood that Klay will not play? How long does going through the protocol usually take?

Who cares. He'll be back ASAP but that's not the point. Golden State's management is playing with fire that extends beyond basketball.

And frankly, i'm also disappointed at how his father has handled it judging by his comments. He seems more concerned with his son playing then he is about Klay's actual health. I mean wtf is "he's throwing up and can't drive himself home.. but don't worry, he's gonna play!! Eff these serious symptoms, nothing some smelling salts or a cap of nyquil won't fix".

It was just this morning I heard that Thompson's agent say he did not have a concussion? I just don't get these people who take it so lightly, he's bleeding from the ear, he's puking at home, he can't even drive home.....does it really need to take a parent to say no.....Mychal Thompson was at the game Wednesday, if I was him, I would have made a big stink with the team doctors to keep him out the rest of the night. Even Dell Curry was scurrying around the bellows of Toyota Center after Steph had his fall. It's just a game, give him the concussion test. Parents know their kid the best.

Who is the fuy who said this was not a shady thing? Guess who was wrong...

Klay is setting himself up for a lawsuit lol.

To each their own. Like I said, it's a risk vs reward thing. They think that the reward (a championship) is worth the risk. If this happened in the pre-season, do you think GS will have him available to play in the 4th quarter? Same thing with Curry, do you think he would come back if that happened in the pre-season or the 1st game of the season? I don't think so. For me as a dad, I would ask advice from independent experts that are available and go with that. I'm not a neurologist and I'm pretty sure Klay's dad didn't become one after he retired lol. But hey, they're going for a championship and if I was in the same position, who knows what I would do but from an outsider looking in, I don't want him to be subjected to any unnecessary risk that might magnify an injury that we're only starting to learn more and more about.

I'm pretty sure Kerr wasn't fooled by it. It was his choice to keep Thompson out of the game and not the medical staff's.

Love how Sam Amick carried water for Klay's camp, and is now all "He had a concussion after all! Whaddya know!"

There was no chance they could hide this. It's weird they even tried.

Can someone give Chris Fedor a concussion so he can shut his pie hole?

on this subject specifically or just in general?

edit to add....

nevermind, my questions been answered

Kerr gave the ok and Thompson was about to check in until blood starting pouring from his ear. Also, GS cleared Harrison Barnes to play during a playoff game in 2013 and found out later that he did have a concussion. I also heard during the game that they didn't perform the concussion test on Klay initially and said it was a laceration in his ear. In the words of Atlanta Hawk and all Delly haters, "GS has a history here....."

Seriously though, this is a bad look for golden state. With the severe symptoms he showed, this reeks of negligence.

The common short term effects of a concussion don't seem incredibly bad. This leads people to have a 'suck it up and get in there' attitude. However, the reason these things are so gently handled now a days is because we still don't know the long term effects. There are some publications that link concussions to Alzheimer's. Do you guys know anyone with Alzheimer's? It's one of the fucking worst things in the world.

He's magically going to be cleared before Game 1. What a joke.

Agreed. I wasn't condoning it, just though it interesting that we actually got the players parent's opinion on the matter.
