Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Honestly TT and J.R had the poorest games for us by guys who got big minutes. At least TT had 15 rebounds. J.R was atrocious on defense. He turned the game in their favor with his poor defense on Thompson in the 4th
I don't know how you can honestly say TT was worse than James Jones or Delly.

2 measly points wasn't great considering he's been around 10 as a starter, but we weren't asking to him to score. The one time we did, the very first play of the game, he posted up Draymond Green and scored. He kicked it out after his offensive boards, and he only got one lob (from Delly) all game last night.

He did do some things well. TT was an absolute animal on the glass last night, and was doing it against GS's best pair of rebounders in Green/Bogut. He had something like 7 rebounds, 3 offensive in the first quarter alone.

His switching is also instrumental limiting GS's effectiveness from deep, he's the best big in the entire league not named AD at stringing Steph Curry along and forcing the ball out of his hands.

He had multiple defensive possessions of guarding both Klay Thompson and Steph Curry 1-on-1 on the perimeter, giving up only contested midrange jumpers on the worst of them. He needs a little more discipline in sticking with Curry around the corners, but more often than not he stays in front of their drives and forces tough shots.

I could see Tristan getting the max, especially if he contributes big-time to a finals victory, but I still think 4/65 5/80 will suffice.

I honestly think that is still a little high.

I struggle to talk myself in to a team giving him 16 million, even after a great playoffs.

13-14 seems right 4/56 5/70. Anything above that is grossly overpaying IMO.

I'd prefer the Cavs just let him get an offer sheet, as I doubt anyone is realistically going above those numbers.

At 14 million per, he'd be one the 30 or so highest paid players in the league, which is kind of insane. We're pretty much stuck paying him but he could be making more than Steph Curry next season, which is just laughable.

They were holding him down the entire 2nd half. I thought that was bullshit. Didn't get any calls. Draymond should have fouled out.

When Green got that fourth fould , I thought they should have went right at him hard.
What didn't happen was TT going backup when he got some of those rebounds and making them foul him more.
Bogut was holding him too much and not being called.
Just like that phantom travel call on Moz.

Lebron also got away with a lot of hooking elbows and push offs.

the refs let them play, with the exception of the horrible traveling call on Moz in the 4th.

Yep. Same as the Derrick Rose miracle shot game, LeBron was getting away with murder enough such that I didn't really feel too bad about calls going the other way.

Bogut has done that stuff his entire career and it was going both ways. Every time Curry would be off the ball and cut through the lane, Cavs would grab him, especially JR Smith who a few times just basically hugged him and nothing was called. It isn't going to be called, either. You gotta play through that stuff.

I don't know whose fault it is, but Tristan needs to stop switching on pick and rolls. It's literally one of the most frustrating things I've seen in my life and he gets scored on 90% of the time.

......he may be the best at switching in the entire NBA....it's part of the reason we're going to pay him the max.

He often has no choice with Kyrie's inability to get through screens. It only ended up happening on a few occasions last night.

And while it may feel like he gets scored on 90% of the time, that certainly isn't the case. TT's ability to switch onto guards is well above average and it has been an absolute key to the Cavs defensive success in the postseason.

Yeah except they didn't hit any shots in ot either except ft's...
