Brendan Haywood's Trade Exception

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't think Mayo is a good idea, Cavs don't need regular season players, they don't need streaky shooters, they need consistant players for the playoffs.
I really like Mills for the team though with Lebron, knock down shooter but a terrible at defense but eventhough his defense is bad his win shares are really impressive.
I think they need to start negotiating with the Spurs, Spurs are on a limited time if they wanna acquire Aldridge and the Haywood exception is their option,
it kinda reminds me of the Jarret Jack, Tyler Zeller , Karasev and the 2016 1st pick, both are on limited time..
if the Cavs still had the Miami pick and/ or the 2016 pick i'm telling you right now there may have been a chance they could have gotten Danny Green, Tiaggo and/or Mills, how?
Danny is RFA and he is asking for 12-14m a year, they can't pay that so they wanna get something in return, Tiago relieves them 8m from the cap space and Mills/Joseph is a filler to 10m.
But here we are now with what we have and I still think the Cavs could get something really good here.

Wouldn't it be harder to trade with San Antonio given that they would view the Cavs as a threat to them? Unless they think they are ripping us off?

Yeah, thought about it too, Cavs are threat to them regardless, it's not like a middle of the pack team going for a mega star, the thing is, how could they acquire Aldridge without the exception? I'm clueless about that.

I'm still wondering if Eric Gordon and the Pelicans might be a situation to watch with the Haywood contact. With Gordon opting in, they only have $11.7 mill left to improve the team. However, they could clear enough space for a max contract by aquiring Haywood which would give them the opportunity to go after Gasol, Jordan, Draymond Green (I'm sure Gentry would love to steal him), Monroe, Al Jefferson, etc.

Maybe not a likely scenario, but one worth watching.

Also forgot Gentry coached Jordan in LA. No idea what that relationship was like but maybe there's something there. Jordan and David together would be insanity. Talk about shutting down the paint. Could be the greatest defensive duo the league had ever seen.

I dont want Bayless. He was a dick to me on Facebook when i tried to convince him to join Arizona and team up with Jennings (when I thought he was going there) when he was in high school :chuckle:

Where are you from? I went to Bayless' rival high school (the same high school David Griffin went to) and watched him dominate my fellow classmates for four years (he's the same age as me)?

No where close to him. I just followed the high school stars/prospects at the time. Brandon Jennings was like my second favorite player to LeBron when he was in high school because I loved his style of play and thought he was super talented. He turned out okay in the league but not as good as I thought he would.

Edit: Another wrinkle to this. I failed to account for both the players they took on for Ilyasova are on non guaranteed contacts and will likely be waived. That will push them to 23 million in cap space before the Middleton extension. If they can convince Middleton to not sign an offer sheet with another team, his cap hold is just 2.7 million, allowing the Bucks plenty of space to try and sign Lopez or Jordan first at the max and then do a new deal for Middleton with his bird rights. Still think the glut of PGs/Wings that they have could lead to either Mayo or Bayless being available

That's kind of why I don't think they'll trade away Mayo for simply Haywood+filler.

The Wade to Cleveland rumble seems to be getting louder.

I don't know what to make of it but even Miami beat writers are penning articles titled "If Dwyane Wade goes to Cleveland, will you forgive him?"

I'm not sure how I feel about it but it seems to be an option at this point.

The move that blew me away was Ilyasova. Can't believe he was available for a pile of garbage. Would have loved to move the BH contract for him.

Straight cash dump for two unguaranteed contracts. BUcks are going to try and make a splash and move up in the EC. Healthy Jabari, re-sign Middleton, and try to lure a MAX guy like Lopez, Jordan, or Monroe

I still think Lopez and Jordan won't turn their back on the full 5 year max if their teams offer it, but Monroe I think is likely to leave since from all accounts he has no interest in going back to Detroit.

Gasol is the guy that would make that team kind of scary. MCW, Middleton, Giannis, Parker, Gasol would be a really tough matchup.

No consistent proven perimeter offense. In a season or two, they should be pretty sharp though.

Definitely true. I believe Giannis is going to become something special in a year or two. He's just scratching the surface right now. He can be an elite defender in the league, and I've see enough of this offensive game to think he shouldn't have a problem becoming a perimeter scoring threat. Not sure how quickly that happens, but I think it definitely does in the near future.

I just really like how Gasol and Parker would compliment each other offensively. They would be really tough to deal with for most teams.

Mills: .52 ORPM (31st out of 84 PGs), .43 DRPM (16th out of 84 SGs).
34.7% on wide open threes, 37.3% on open threes. Shot a 37% on corner threes (47% last year). Poor three point defender (players shot 40.5% against him and 33.5% against everyone else). He's an average defender of the ball handler allowing .80 PPP, bottom 45 % in the NBA. He's a below average creator as a ball handler--he produces .71 PPP, which is bottom 40% in the league. He does not do well in ISO as he produces .74 PPP, which is bottom 38% in the league.Spurs were 3.5 points per 100 possessions better with him on court.

Also, Mills doesn't turn to mush during the playoffs.

Career Playoffs:

.462 FG%
.613 TS%
17.4 PER
.161 WS/48
3.3 BPM

This is the kind of efficiency the Cavs desperately need from their role players.
