Sir'Dominic Pointer - A Cleveland Cavalier

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hopefully Pointer, as a lower pick, can be signed to Canton without being poached by another NBA team. Let us see him develop for half the year and then dependent on how other things play out, sign him to a deal next year( when we have no draft picks coming in)

I think the front office tries to convince him to go to Europe, it keeps his value as an asset if we arent going to sign him to the roster. Blatts relationships overseas should make it a easy sale and hopefully he can be put in the right situation. He will get paid more overseas than in canton too.

Lloyd detailed out what will likely happen to Pointer(or perhaps Haws/Sykes)

He'll sign a non guaranteed deal that becomes garaunteed after a certain point in early January. That will allow us to get an extended look at him in training camp and practice, as well as having him be one of our designated players at Canton. It will also make sure we have the full 15 guys around for practices early in the year.

When that deadline comes around in early January, unless he has exceeded expectations or the Cavs aren't confident there is a market for the TPE, he'll get waived to create room for whoever we intend to acquire with one of the TPE's.

At that point, if non NBA teams want to sign him to a guaranteed deal, we shouldn't have any problem having him sign with Canton and continue to develop under our watch.

I definitely think this is the route we go with Sir Dom (unless we can convince him to sign overseas for a year so we can keep his rights intact). Maybe it's a partial guarantee deal to help steer him towards Canton, because I think the designated player thing has to be executed at the end of camp so we wouldn't be able to keep him through January for the extended look. But if we guaranteed him ~$150K-$200K of a minimum deal (since I assume we'll use the rest of the MLE on Kaun) then he might be more willing to sign with us after he gets cut.

I mean the cavs could try to highlight Harris and him in blowout games or even added depth to create a small market for them. You never know a good start to the year could net us a couple second round picks.

I also call LaMarcus Aldridge just Marcus Aldridge and Dwayne Wade is Wayne Wade, naturally.

Dwyane is asinine, so I've avoided writing his first name since he's been in the league. @Lee knows what it's like to avoid speaking or writing a person/entity's name.

Lamarcus I don't have as much of a problem with. While it's a made-up name, and I hate made-up names, it doesn't force the speaker to add a goddamn royal title to it. And it's not spelled "wrong" per se.

I think he will be better in the NBA with the spacing. I like that he can start the break and he gets rid of the ball quickly of someone else has an advantage.

With his defense I could see him as a Corey Brewer type of guy. I don't see why he can't help the team situationally. If he obtains a jumpshot in the process all the better. His grittiness on d looks great.

Agreed. His skill set (perimeter defense and hustle) is exactly what you want in a situational end of bench player.
