Farewell, Timofey Mozgov

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Top question I wish someone asked Lebron for his "Ask Lebron Anything" session on Twitter tonight- "Do you realize keeping your behemoth center buddy next year depends on Tristan tamping down this max contract shit?"

LeBron James was asked on Tuesday if he expects restricted FA Tristan Thompson to re-sign with the Cavs, to which he replied, "Yeah of course he will." James, who was answering questions on Twitter, added that Thompson "Means way too much to [the Cavs'] success!"

Actually I just wish we knew for sure that it's crossed his mind- not that I want it floated in public.

I'm sure he just thinks we'll just suck it up and sign him, which is certainly doable as long as Andy goes bye bye.

I can't wait to see Moz again in action this year...dude is exactly what we needed the first few months of last season.

I thought it'd be interesting to see how you guys think Moz compares to other big man centers, in particular who he seems to play extremely well against and who his kryptonites are.

It's almost surreal how easily he vanquishes Bogut; some of the highest scoring games of his career have come against the Warriors' defensive anchor. A big reason why GSW was forced to go small in the Finals was because of how Moz made him a complete non-factor. He also seems to give Pau Gasol a lot of problems.

On the flipside, I think he struggles against Whiteside and he didn't play particularly well against Valanciunas in our last meeting with the Raptors, who dropped 20+ points.

How close do you think Moz is to elite center status, and what will he need to do to get there?

Cheers.

It is certainly becoming a conundrum for Lebron if/when we have to lose one of the 4 bigs. He supports all 4 of them, either socially and/or as teammates neccessary for the championship . We know he's very friendly with Tristan and Andy, and that he is awed by Mozgov's size (and hopefully ability)...then he goes out lastnight and cites Love as one of his 4 favorite teammates (I guess he means of all time, even though it was off the cuff-Twitter Q&A)

It seems like LBJ is painting himself into a corner with this rah-rah-Tristan stuff. I think you're on the right track with Andy having to go to keep this thing together. I hate to say it... HATE to say it, but Andy seems like the most likely to become ineffective in the near future, (barring Love's arm not healing right). Lebron seems like he would be at peace with Andy going out with a nice payday ala Mike Miller.

How many feel Andy and his ridiculous contract getting traded is a foregone conclusion if we are to keep Mozgov next year?

(barring Love's arm not healing right)- No pun intended...

Winning a title this year, with Andy on the team, would make it much easier to cut ties with him. And realistically, where is he going to go from there? It would be going out in a blaze of glory, with the organization he has spent most of his professional career with.

I have zero expectations for andy this season.

Anything he provides is a bonus in my mind. He's coming off one of the most devastating injuries an athlete can have and had already shown signs of slowing down.

It sure would, I'm just wondering how feasible it is to keep him after this year assuming Moz is our obvious #1 priority.

As far as him going out- we've buried Andy after injury many times before, and he just keeps coming back.

That's how I'm trying to think of it. All that "zombie" stuff Windy kept trying to pin to Miller- really needs to go to Andy.

I think it's possible, especially if Andy shows he can still play in a reduced role this year, that Gilbert is willing to suck it up for one year and keep Andy on as a quality player on a potential repeat team, because it will likely cost a pick or two to trade him into a team's space (the good news being that there will be a ton of these teams next year) and I don't know if Dan would do that just over money.

If he proves to be a corpse though I think they pay the price to get rid of him, not only for money reasons but also to clear up a roster spot for someone to be able to help us.

You do realize that in year three that Andy is a non guaranteed contract. If they have kept him into next year, then I find it pretty unlikely that they try to move him before that 3rd year. Wouldn't be good asset management.

Honestly, I'd rather have to keep Andy and be able to re-sign Moz than sign TT to some ridiculous bloated long term deal and run the risk of losing Moz entirely.

Yeah, this upcoming year is the first year of the deal. If he proves himself healthy and important, I think they keep him around even if it means paying all four of Love, Moz, TT, and Andy the following season.

Obviously, after those two seasons and when Andy's deal is fully non-guaranteed I could see them just cutting him to save money, although by that point that salary cap and tax will have risen to the point that it might not matter as much.

My point was though, that of Andy proves to be poop this upcoming season then I think they would pay to get out of his deal for next season plus clear up a roster spot for someone that could actually contribute. It's not different than what we did with Miller this year (who was going to be a free agent after this year). We paid to get out of his deal a year early, both for money reasons and for roster space reasons. Everyone seemed to be jumping for joy about that move.

Mozgov will not be going anywhere. I can promise you this.

Everybody on the team benefitted when Mozgov showed up.

Sure, LeBron loves Anderson; realistically Timo will from here on out provide a lot more than Andy.

Not that they need to directly be compared, or it's got to be one guy or the other........

If we lost Timo for financial reasons, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and LeBron should march to Gilbert's office and turn the place over.
