I agree 100%.

But we can do both, I think.

What a shit show of a conversation that is being had.

Just awful religious/political pointlessness from both sides.

These internet back and forth's between opinions is such bullshit and a slap in the face of the human condition.

I'm offended by all of it.

Buh-bye!

It takes nearly 2 years just to get approved to get into US. Refugees arent a safety issue. Just stay out of the Middle East with troops as much as possible and support the Kurds and even Assad put the bulwark of the fight against ISIS

It no coincidence these attacks have occurred just when the Kurds were able to cut their supply lines into Iraq. The propoganda war switches quickly when you are holding a losing position and the best thing we can do is dont feed them more recruits

Why not just get started. Do you have any extra cash? An unused couch or bed? Are you eating more than you should be.

By next week I'm expecting a full report from you and Gour on where you started and where you are with helping those in need.

There's actually some serious legitimacy to this point. If helping the poor is truly such a moral imperative, then how come there are so many wealthy people bitching about others not spending enough on the poor?

If it truly is a moral imperative, they should be giving most of their wealth away regardless of whether others do it or not.

I give quite a bit to charity every chance I get. Just to be clear.
I have friends who carry a gallon jug with them and fill it up with water from taps whenever they need it. They eat on $5 a day. Not because they are poor. Because they are cheap. There's nothing stopping any of you from making cuts in your lives and helping others out. Everytime you eat an $8.50 burrito from Chipotle or get a Starbucks coffee you're indulging in excess over helping those in need.

I always love all of the people who want to help everyone else. They only seem to want to help when someone else is doing the helping.

Just stop with your bullshit. If you wanted to get started you could easily give $50 a month to a charity for the poor and starving. With your intelligence and job I'm sure more. Your business is helping yourself if you're talking about where do we start and you're sitting on your ass waiting for someone else to do something.

Ok, US homeless first...we agree.

Next, if i have to bring in 10,000 people, i choose 10,000 starving orphans from Africa over the Syrians...you?

Well don't leave me hanging...

Heh, editing issue, but I'll finish the thought anyway...

When i went to law school, I had no idea that there were so many Jewish lawyers, or that Jewish lawyers were a "thing". Not a clue. Really didn't figure it out until I went looking for a clerkship before my first summer.

I have been meaning to start a thread about his for a while. Why are there so many homeless in america? We visited Chicago recently and I was shocked at how many homeless people there were. Certainly everyone qualifies for enough aid to at least have a place to live. Am I wrong about that? Once people become homeless in America, how do they ever escape it?

Our company sent boxes and boxes of clothing to a tent city in Wooster. The people there wouldn't take it and were mad we offered. I don't understand it.

Someone tell me it's irrational to fear flying from Tampa to Cleveland on Thanksgiving eve.
COMPLETELY rational. Fact is many people who move away from Cleveland are doing so to get away from their families, so coming home for the holidays is hella-stressful. That flight is going to filled with drunk and Xanaxed up folks who will be on a razors edge while thinking about having to spend a whole two days dealing with mom, dad, lunatic siblings and crazy Aunt June. Others will be hauling their whining, sniveling children with them. The odds of one of these people flipping out on a flight attendant for not quieting the kid two rows back or because their ice isn't cold enough is about 90%. Be VERY afraid of that flight.

P.S. Oh and if you are on my brothers flight say hi and let him know I have several talking points lined up about how Ted Nugent will make a great presidential candidate.

I dont get this critique of hypocrisy. You can give charity that helps american poor but on the other hand charities that help Syrians many of their main goals is relocate sue to security. People need help in different ways and charitable giving is just one way and will not help certain populations no matter how much you give of your net worth

In addition, we actually help ourselves with immigration. Even when Castro dumped a bunch of criminals we were better off for it.

It not only the right thing to do morally but for the economy
