New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Regardless of audio or pheromones, if one doesn't hear the actual command, then how could they follow the suggestion? Would the pheromone carry the message as well?

What if the deaf person or the person jamming out with some headphones was a horrible lip reader?

I could waste all sorts of time coming up with clever lip-reading errors.

Well, based on how the series is set up, lip reading should have no effect.

Yea, I spent too much time over analyzing this probably, but this is my thoughts. Assuming pheromones could control without the person actually hearing, that would mean that specific different pheromones could be released for the specific purposes he has in his mind based on his thoughts. But if that was true, he wouldn't even have to open his mouth to get people to do stuff, he could just think it. And that could account for anything like an audio or language barriers getting in the way, and the only stipulation would be him getting close enough to the people to release it and make it work. Which, would still technically be mind control and a decent explanation somebody could make up to account for it, but it seems that isn't the case because the audio is like the main catalyst in the show.

Otherwise, the pheromones are activated by the audible command, but if that was the case, it still wouldn't be able to get through ear plugs, being deaf, not being able to understand it like a different language etc.

I'm just sure the people who created the idea of him have also thought of these things, and I would think they have answers for this. It is just funny to me because I watched nearly all of the episodes without even giving a second thought to what could be major plot holes to his super power being so caught up in the show.

It actually kind of just dawned on me that ear plugs is all it would take to stop this guy that is so feared and kind of made me laugh because it would be so easy to defeat him over something so stupid. But Jessica Jones or any of the characters would be quite dumb if they didn't realize that, so it obviously must not be the case. There must be some other explanation. And it could simply be solved by the understanding that he doesn't have to say anything to make his power work, but the show doesn't ever show that as the case.

Walt, you must not have watched all 13 episodes yet. I don't want to spoil anything. But, it seems clear that communication is important for getting Kilgrave's power to actually accomplish anything, either through hearing or seeing instructions from him.

Just finished. Wow, so my point was pretty valid then.

Seeing the tactics used in the last episode, this really all could have been prevented from the beginning if anyone was smart enough to wear headphones/ear plugs. Especially in the beginning before his power got way more stronger. This solution is funny, yet insane to me. It was proven headphones cranked up blocked his power, but why didn't they think of that before he slaughtered/violated tons of people? They honestly probably should have left that out and found a different solution to make us at least wonder if that was possible, instead of validate it.

I really like the series a lot, there are some pretty funny lines in there too. And there was some creative stuff without a doubt, and I love how they kept human elements of realism in this super human world, but this flaw in the plot takes season 1 down a bit of a notch for me. Let's hope the villain in season 2 doesn't have this problem. It was still highly entertained and enjoyed it, but that is just a crazy oversight.

Also, not that Kilgrave wanted Jessica dead, but if he did or anybody, or wanted to stop anybody.... why didn't he just go to every person he met on the street or even a bunch of specially trained people and send the masses in droves to do his bidding and apprehend and overwhelm people to stop anyone against him. I feel like he didn't use his power all that smart. There were a bunch of things he could have done. Once again, I'm probably overthinking it, but I'm just analyzing it by the rules that are created in this world. He could have been much more powerful if he really used his power well, but I guess we wouldn't have a show would we?

I'm on episode eight right now and it is by far my favorite of the series so far.

Hearing how Kilgrave views being a hero is awesome. "How many lives do you think it'll take me to get back to zero?" I love how self-centered he is.

I'm really late to the party, but I watched 12 episodes of season 1 of The Blacklist this weekend. It's really incredible how great the show is for being on TV. Looks like a Netflix Show. Has great characters and plotlessness so far.

Another thing I thought of regarding The Purple Man/Kilgrave...

He would have a really difficult time using sarcasm.

Anyone seen 'the expanse' on scify i was really impressed with both the vision of the future the production quality and the ideas. Best thing since galactica of that kind of show

Is it already on ? I thought it was not released yet.

Been watching "The Last Kingdom". It's a BBC adaptation of Bernard Cornwall's set of historical novels set in Britain, during the time of Alfred the Great and the Danish/Viking invasions. Great casting, and they really nailed the flavor of the period and historical characters.

Was not a fan of leftovers this week..

Part of the fun was they you could never discern supernatural vs natural.. they sure swung hard.

It was an interesting episode bedside of ask the Easter eggs, but the show has always excelled in relationships and interactions and story telling, which is next to impossible when you completely commit to abstract.
